This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 18th, 2026. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.
Your Impact
+ Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
+ Learn basic principles of Transportation Designing, Planning, and Policy for emerging technologies.

As an Intern for Summer 2026 based in our Ann Arbor, MI office, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water resources related projects. Our projects involve, dams and river diversions, land development, stream restoration, water and wastewater utilities, survey, and other aspects of civil engineering. Your Key Responsibilities
* Candidate will assist engineering and administrative staff with such tasks as: Data processing and management using GIS to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
* Preparing spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for design reports.
* Preparing design and construction plans, specifications, quantity take-offs and construction estimates.
* Assisting with field work for data collection, site inspections and observations.
* Building surface models in AutoCAD Civil3D.

JOB SUMMARY

The Structural Engineer will support the project team by leading design aspects of the project and will address engineering issues for various projects. In this full-time role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in regards to the essential functions of the job found below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Discipline Management: Manage structural engineering resources and ensuring adequate support is being provided to proposal and project teams. Participate in the recruitment efforts to grow the structural engineering team.

JOB SUMMARY
Atwell specializes in power generation and power delivery services, including high-voltage electrical systems, substations, switchyards, transmission lines, distribution design, overhead and underground collection systems, and renewable energy power generation facilities such as Windfarms, PV/Solar farms, and BESS facilities.
The Electrical Engineer with an emphasis in the power sector will play a key role in supporting the project team by leading various design components on individual projects. This position requires the individual to develop and demonstrate expertise in performing the core responsibilities outlined below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrate a strong understanding of power engineering principles, with expertise in high-voltage electrical systems and components involved in power generation, transmission, distribution, and substation design..
Communicates effectively with all project stakeholders, actively coordinating engineering and design activities across multiple engineering disciplines, including substation physical, protection & control, SCADA, civil, structural, transmission, distribution, collection system, studies, construction, procurement, and project management.
Lead the engineering efforts on project design through the different project milestones from start to finish.
Assist project managers in developing proposal documents and estimates for bidding or change orders.
Work with drafters, designers, and other engineers on the preparation and checking of design drawings and design packages.
Participation in occasional site visits, Field walkdowns, or client meetings at the client location may be required.
Communicate with the Project Manager and Discipline Manager regarding workload status and complete assignments within scope, schedule, and budget with a high degree of accuracy to ensure the delivery of quality results.
Draft, review, and finalize project technical documents including, but not limited to: master deliverable list, design criteria, design drawings, engineering reports, specifications, bill of materials, technical proposals, cost estimates, feasibility studies, testing procedures, commissioning plans, construction staging, and outage plans, and scope of work documents.
Have a solid understanding of industry practices and standards such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE, ANSI, USDA, and other relevant technical standards.
Conduct interdisciplinary reviews of design packages prepared by other engineering teams to ensure seamless coordination and integration across all engineering disciplines.

Experience with injection studies, LGIP/SGIP/DER system impact studies, transmission capability analyses, LMP forecasting, and congestion analyses is required.

Our Michigan Earth & Environment Team is seeking a part-time Environmental Engineering Intern - Winter 2025 / Spring 2026 to work out of our Novi, MI office. This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.
Your Impact
* Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
* Learn basic principles of Environmental Engineering.
* Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
* Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
* Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
* Complete training on assigned tasks.
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
* Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
* Must be 18 or older.
* Demonstrated interest in environmental engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
* Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
* Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
* Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools (i.e. Microsoft Office, Video Recording Devices, Video Playback Software).
* Consistently and reliably able to commute to the Novi, MI.
* Must have a valid driver's license.
* Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
* Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $22.16 - $29.14
