In 1996, with the unanimous approval of the New York City Board of Education, Ann turned her idea into a reality and opened The Young Women’s Leadership School (TYWLS) of East Harlem – the first public all-girls school to open in the United States in 30 years.
In 2002, Lee and Sally Posey established the Foundation for the Education of Young Women, now known as the Young Women’s Preparatory Network.
In 2004, the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School was opened in Dallas.
In 2008, the Talkington School for Young Women Leaders was opened in Lubbock and the Young Women’s Leadership Academy was opened in San Antonio.
Posey passed away in 2008, but his legacy lives on through the successes of the students and alumnae who benefit from the Posey vision.
Meg is the Managing Director of Finance and Administration and has been with the organization since March 2009.
In 2011, the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy was opened in Houston.
In 2016, the Ysleta Young Women’s Leadership Academy opened in El Paso.
Powers joined Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) in 2017 as a Partner and Chair of GIP Credit.
In 2021, the Young Women’s Leadership Academy opened in Aldine.
