Hotel de L’Europe celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1996.
In 1998 the Amsterdam Municipality put the building on the market.
One and a half years of demolition and clearance started in 2003.
Nieuwe Doelenstraat 10, 12 and 14 were purchased by Hotel de l’Europe on September 1st 2006.
At last, in June 2007, The Grand Hotel Amrâth opened its doors.
Hotel de l’Europe was rebranded as De L’Europe and started with a complete restoration of the main building, reopening in the spring of 2011.
To capitalize upon the business’ success, AccorHotels decided to launch another spirited makeover of the structure in 2011.
Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, a member of Historic Hotels Worldwide since 2018, dates back to 1578.
