How long does it take to become a senior sales rep?

By Zippia Team - Dec. 17, 2021

It takes between eight to ten years to become a senior sales manager. This includes earning a four-year bachelor's degree and having at least four to six years of sales experience with some time spent in supervisor and or managerial roles.

The senior sales rep should have a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in Communications, Business Administration, Business Management, Marketing, or any other related field. The next step is to begin an internship or land an entry-level position.

A senior sales rep must also have at least four to six years of work experience in a sales position within a complex and fast-paced business environment, preferably as a sales rep supervisor or manager.

One reason for this is that a senior sales rep should be able to demonstrate experience in sales research and assist the sales department in establishing appropriate strategies that lead to achieving goals and targets.
