It takes one year or less to become an apprentice. That is the time it takes to learn specific apprentice skills, but does not account for time spent in formal education.
There are certain skills that you need to obtain in order to become a successful apprentice. Some of the most common skills are listed below. Along with each skill, we provide an actual example of how someone included the skill on their resume:

Basic Knowledge -- Obtained Basic knowledge of commercial electrical wiring.

Apprenticeship -- Meet satisfactorily educational and on-the-job training requirements stated in the 4 year North Carolina State Apprenticeship certification program.
Safety Procedures -- Mentored multiple electricians; advised on proper safety procedures and methods for maximizing productivity, efficiency, and quality.
The OSHA Safety Certificate certification is most common among Apprentices. This certification is awarded by the Delaware Technical Community College. To become a certified Apprentice with OSHA Safety Certificate , You don't need to pass the exam. This certificate requires more than two years of work experience. No renewal for certification, if you earn it once it is valid all time.
