This question is about principal.

How many years does it take to become a principal?

By Zippia Team - Feb. 10, 2022

It takes about six years to become a principal. Most principals secure their bachelor's degree, which takes approximately four years. From there, some may decide to continue their education, gaining their master's degree. However, some prospective principals may enter the education field as a teacher and continue gaining career traction that way.

Principals are often required to have at least two years of experience with their education. Continuing education or certifications may be required based on the school district and institution. Some principals may also want to undertake further education/credentialing and gain more experience based on their comfort level.

Many have reported more success when investing more time into their knowledge and credentials when becoming a principal.
