How old do you have to be to work at Dollar General?

You have to be 18 or older to work at Dollar General. There are some states that will hire 16- or 17-year-olds to work as sales associates. However, if the Dollar General locations sell alcohol or tobacco products, you must be 18 or older to work as a sales associate.

In Michigan and Pennsylvania, for example, you can be hired by Dollar General at 16 years old, so long as you have a work permit from your school and/or permission from your parents. To work in the warehouse, or as a supervisor or manager, you must be 18 years old or older.
