This question is about store associate jobs.
A store associate at Walmart does customer service (helping customers find what they need, giving advice), organizing (lots and lots of organizing), labeling, stocking, and otherwise just maintaining shelves and cashier work.
Some departments, like lawn and garden, have more specific duties in addition to these. In lawn and garden, for example, you are expected to water and keep on top of deliveries of seasonal flowers, manage the soil mulch drive-through, and deal with heavier products like outdoor furniture, lawnmowers, and grills.
Also, working as an associate in lawn and garden typically requires more heavy lifting than an average sales position, but you are not expected to lift anything you're uncomfortable with.
Every workday, a Walmart associate will clock-in, and report to their supervisor for the day's tasks. Most store associates will do lots of inventory throughout the day as new merchandise arrives and will probably stock shelves as well.
You will be expected to actively assist customers when possible, though it is normal to report to your supervisor if you cannot solve the issue yourself. You are allowed a one-hour break after working for four hours.
