The process starts when an applicant submits a formal online application. Depending on the position and length of time spent gathering applications, a person should expect to hear a positive response within a few days to one week.

This will typically lead to a phone screening, in which a candidate will be asked basic questions about availability, and their information will be confirmed.

From here an applicant will be asked to participate in one or more interviews with store personnel. The length and number of interviews typically depends on position, but most sales associate positions at Ascena Retail Group only require one interview. Typical interview questions include:

• What are your greatest strengths/weaknesses?

• What kind of fashion matches your personal style?

• How would you recommend fashion styles to customers?

At this point, a contingent offer will be extended as the company performs necessary background and/or reference checks. As long as the candidate passes these, they will then be extended a formal offer of employment.
