This question is about graphic designer resumes.
A graphic designer should put on a resume technical skills, experience, and accomplishments that showcase their qualifications as an artist. The entire resume (from the profile summary to work experience to skills section) should showcase to the hiring manager why you would make an excellent candidate.
To get started, you should write a strong profile summary. The profile summary is a concise, one to three sentence statement that touches on who you are as a candidate and what you bring to the table.
We recommend, including how long you've worked as a graphic designer, your specialty, and an achievement or core skill that you have. For example, "Highly creative with the ability to work well within a team.
Extensive experience in managing other designers and coordinating with them to deliver a single product. Highly skilled with various programs within the Adobe Creative Suite, such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator."
Next, you should elaborate on the specific experiences you have had working as a graphic designer. Similar to the profile summary, you should convey your experience using real-world examples and achievements. For example, "Facilitated team meetings for a project to increase revenue for ecommerce clients."
If you are just starting out in your career or if you primarily work as a freelance graphic designer, then you can list your project experience in the work experience section. If you have a work portfolio, we recommend you consider making one and linking to it in your resume.
