Barry McCarthy was named President and CEO of Deluxe in November 2018. Barry is also a member of our Board of Directors. Prior to joining Deluxe, Barry spent 14 years at First Data Corporation, where he served in a variety of senior executive positions, most recently Executive Vice President and Head of Network and Security Solutions, a $1.5 billion publicly reported segment of the company. Barry is an accomplished executive and financial technology leader with an extensive track record of developing and building tech-driven solutions for financial institutions and small businesses. His strong background in product development, sales, marketing and technology innovation have supported the significant growth of companies from a Silicon Valley start-up, to major divisions of global Fortune 250 organizations. Barry earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and attended the University of Illinois.

Marc Gardner is founder, president, and CEO of North American Bancard Holdings, LLC. Ernst & Young recognized Gardner as the 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year for the Central Great Lakes region. This award is considered the world’s most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs and it is recognized globally. An active philanthropist and avid supporter of the arts, Gardner serves on the Board of Directors at MOCAD (Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit) and provides philanthropic support to numerous organizations, including: AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee), National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Friendship Circle, Detroit Public Television, Cranbrook and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Gardner received his economics degree from University of Wisconsin. He is married and lives in Troy, Michigan

Rick Saunders has worked in finance and banking as his career of choice from an early age. From 1983 through 1997, Mr. Saunders was Senior Vice President and City Executive of Florence for Pee Dee State Bank, where he was also a member of the Senior Loan Committee and Board of Directors. During this time, his responsibilities included Corporate Banking, Business Development, and Policy Making. From 1997 to 1998, he served as Senior Market Executive with Centura Bank after its merger with Pee Dee State Bank. In 1998, he began organizing First Reliance Bank and presently serves as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Saunders is currently a member of many civic and charity organizations. He was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor McMasters (2019) for his dedication and contributions to the well-being of South Carolina and its communities. He has been recognized with an Entrepreneur Award for his contributions to the prosperity of the Pee Dee Region by the Florence-Darlington Technical College’s Educational Foundation (2016), named Business Man of the Year (2007, Florence Chamber of Commerce), the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2007), and the Beta Gamma Sigma honoree from Francis Marion University School of Business (2004-2005). He is also a member of the Florence County Foster Care Review Board, the South Carolina Foster Care Review Board, the Board of Directors for First Reliance Bank and First Reliance BancShares, the Florence Rotary Club, and the Florence Baptist Temple. Mr. Saunders has served as a member of the McLeod Foundation Board of Trustees and prior to that served as a Director for the Advisory Board for the McLeod Foundation, the Florence Chamber of Commerce, the SC Chamber of Commerce, the South Carolina Bankers Association,the SC Bankers Association Legislative Committee, the Independent Banks of South Carolina and he is a past member of the South Carolina State Board of Financial Institutions. He has also been a past board member for the local chapter of Young Life Ministries, the South Carolina Bankers Association Community Bankers Council, the Advisory Board for the Business Education Program for Florence School District One, the Advisory Board for the Florence Easter Seals, the United Way of Florence, Pee Dee State Bank and Pee Dee Bancshares, and the Home Builders Association of the Greater Pee Dee Area. Mr. Saunders graduated from the South Carolina Bankers School, a cooperative program with the College of Business Administration of the University of South Carolina in 1986. Two years later, he graduated from the Southeastern School of Agriculture Lending, a cooperative program with the College of Agricultural Science of Clemson University.
