This is a Part-time position serving our Middletown Hospice House IPU but may occasionally serve our Dayton Hospice House IPU as well. .
The position is 2-8hr shifts per week, 8pm-4am, with some weekend coverage as needed
We provide superior care and superior services to patients at their end of life journey. Only those who have a heart for hospice will succeed
Safety & Security Specialist Responsibilities:
Uses effective means of communication to assist in responding to calls for assistance and emergencies.
Quickly responds to campus emergency situations.
Communicates with police, fire, and/or EMS in emergency situations.
Patrols interior and exterior of the campus to ensure the facilities remain safe and secure.
Monitor surveillance cameras and access control systems and alarms.
Complete necessary job-related documentation in a timely manner.
De-escalate potentially hostile situations when needed.
Carry a firearm legally, when necessary.
Assists in other activities and departments when requested.
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities to support the quality of Ohio's Hospice services.
Safety & Security Specialist Qualifications:
General education degree (GED) or High school diploma preferred.
Law Enforcement, Security, and/or Military experience is preferred.
OPTA Basic Peace Officer Training Academy is preferred.
Ability to legally carry a firearm.
Computer skills sufficient to properly participate in communication methodologies.
Travel may be required during daytime, nighttime or inclement weather.
Valid Driver's License with Safe Driving Record

Conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines. Communicates with store Associates on damage and shrink initiatives. Identifies and resolves internal and external theft.
Adheres to established shoplifter guidelines and policies
Provides timely, courteous and knowledgeable service to customers
Promotes a culture of honesty and integrity; maintains confidentiality
Observes, apprehends, and/or deters any acts of dishonesty from outside sources
Participates in investigations and surveillance as assigned
Ensures apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity
Completes and distributes paperwork in an accurate and timely manner

Coordinates and complete shrink related activities in partnership with Store Management

Includes but is not limited to:
Loss Prevention Officers will work as a uniformed retail Loss Prevention Officer. As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will be required to monitor cameras for potential shoplifters. You will be required to confront and stop all potential shop lifters. Loss Prevention Officers will need to be able to write detailed reports for the client on the shop lifting incident. Loss Prevention Officers will be required to testify in court for the shop lifting incident. Loss Prevention Officers will need to be customer service orientated, have great verbal and written communication skills. Loss Prevention Officers will network with local Law Enforcement to help deter and apprehend shoplifters.
This position will be a FT/ 40 hour to include working both 1st & 2nd shifts along with weekends
REQUIREMENTS:
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and a drug screen
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
Must have Security experience and strong Customer Service Skills
