Isabel Gonzalez

Chief of Staff and Vice President of Communications and Community Relations

Isabel Gonzalez is Broward College’s Chief of Staff and Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. She oversees the Office of the President, community relations and institutional events, marketing, public relations, and contact center. In addition, Ms. Gonzalez co-chairs Broward UP, which seeks to increase post-secondary access and attainment across Broward County. Since joining the College in September 2018, Ms. Gonzalez provides executive-level advisement and leadership to support and advance the College’s mission.

Ms. Gonzalez has over 18 years of experience in the education, economic development, and transportation sectors, including Senior Director of Communications and Strategic Initiatives at the New York City Department of Education, and Manager of Business & Property Development at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. An Arizona native, Ms. Gonzalez previously led community relations for Mesa Public Schools, and strategic planning and communications for the Office of the Governor of Arizona.

Currently, Ms. Gonzalez serves on the board of directors for HANDY, Inc., which offers life skills, education and a supportive community to youth and for the Florida Juvenile Justice Foundation, which is committed to improving Florida’s juvenile justice system for children and families. She also represents Broward College on the Coordinating Council of Broward, the Leadership Council of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, and the Downtown Coalition of Fort Lauderdale. Ms. Gonzalez is a member of the Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class 39.

During her years in New York City, Ms. Gonzalez served on numerous boards including New York Needs You, advocating for economic mobility for ambitious, first-generation college students; Behind the Book, bringing authors into schools to inspire reading and writing; and Rosie’s Theater Kids, an arts education organization that provides training in dance, music, and drama for New York City public school students.

Ms. Gonzalez holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbia University and bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Arizona State University. She is also a 2007 Education Pioneers Graduate Fellow.

When Ms. Gonzalez is not “running” from meeting to meeting, she spends her off time cycling and rock climbing. She has hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and climbed Bear Lodge (Devils Tower) in Wyoming. A consummate adventurer, Ms. Gonzalez also enjoys international travel with a focus on exploring new cultures and cuisine.

Tony Casciotta brings 40 plus years of technology experience while providing transformative leadership for all aspects of the technology environment, including project management, cloud-based applications, systems, networking, databases, web management, classroom technology, managed services, vendor partnerships, and cybersecurity. He is a firm believer in aligning IT Solutions with the goals of the institution. Operational excellence, building strategic technology strategy, agility and process improvement, and being the trusted advisor to all internal and external business partners dominate his agenda at the College. Before joining Broward College, Mr. Casciotta held various management roles with ATT, Cisco Systems, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Nat West Bank, and most recently was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Information Security Officer CISO at Altran.

Mr. Casciotta is a board member of the CIO Council of South Florida and the Broward College Computer Sciences Advisory Board and has presented on numerous topics at several national conferences, including the Gartner Symposium and CIO Summit, State of the CIO, and World Education Congress.

Through his leadership, the Information Technology Department at the College provides internship opportunities internally and externally with partner companies for students within the Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) field. Through his service on the CIO Council and other organizations, he raises funds for high school student scholarships. He also focuses on assisting organizations that promote fundraising for women to obtain their degrees in Technology and Engineering.

He earned his degree in computer technology from Control Data Institute (CDI).
