1860

Nearby is Bidwell–Sacramento River State Park. It was founded in 1860 by John Bidwell, a state congressman and horticulturist, and developed as an agricultural-processing centre, especially for almonds, rice, and fruit.

1868

Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park includes the 26-room Victorian home (1868) of John Bidwell.

1887

The California State University at Chico built in 1887 participates in the research and development of the medical supplies.

2002

The newest addition is the Channel Islands campus, which opened for classes as a separate institution in 2002 after having been part of the Northridge campus.
