The EmPATH RN Team Leader
JOB POSITION/SUMMARY
EmPATH will provide non-hospital facility-based services that renders short-term treatment to facilitate access to services and stabilization to prevent ED and acute psychiatric hospitalization admissions.
EmPATH will provide these services to individuals who present to the program or are transferred from area EDs.
Initial admission will be on a voluntary status to adults (18 years and older) who are presenting with a mental illness and/or co-occurring disorder and experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
This position hires, trains, and supervises nursing staff for EmPATH.
Oversees scheduling, monitors training needs, and functions in a leadership role in the multi-disciplinary EmPATH treatment team.
This position will be responsible for ordering supplies for the unit and monitoring all nursing duties.
Completes chart reviews to ensure agency compliance.
Provides direct care to clients as needed and assists with crisis interventions and medical emergencies, Serves as a liaison with other agencies as indicated.
This position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, ability to go down on knees, running, and walking.
Regular attendance is an essential job function.
Required to provide nursing duties and coverage despite any weather conditions or holiday that arise.
Hours are mid-shift with flexible scheduling.
Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Census Tracking/ Productivity
Takes lead role in hiring and retaining staff.
Orients and trains staff as to treatment floor flow by end of the first month.
Is responsible for adhering to licensure and credentialing guidelines.
2. Planning/Organizing
Completes all reports within specified time frame.
Monitors documentation to ensure compliance with MCO,CARF, and licensure expectations and standards.
Monitors staff in regard to denial logs and structure of unit.
Monitor and assist in ordering and obtaining medications for unit.
3. Meets Program/Clinical Needs
Works with multi-disciplinary treatment teams to meet client needs and oversees clinical standards of the program.
Provides RN services as indicated.
Responds to all flags, emails, and voicemail within 2 business days.
Completes all chart documentation daily within standards and regulations.
4. Promotes and maintains positive teamwork
Organizes and develops team cohesion.
Meets with staff on a consistent basis to address identified concerns.
Demonstrates a consideration and concern for fellow workers and promotes harmonious relationships and attitudes.
Works closely with EmPATH and other program supervisors (i.e. MCU, BHUCC, CSU, WIC).
5. Networking
Maintains positive relationships with internal departments to meet program needs and maximize program growth-i.e. Financial Services, IT, etc.
Develops a positive working relationship with outside agencies to promote and meet needs of the program.
6. Flexibility/Adaptability
Works non-structured hours.
Implements assignments given by supervisor by established deadlines.
Accepts additional job duties.
COMPENSATION:
Starting salary for this position is approximately $34.34 /hr based on relevant experience and education.
QUALIFICATIONS - EmPATH RN Team Leader
Experience:
Associate's/Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University.
Experience in psychiatric nursing and acute care preferred.
Must have the ability to present professionally, work within a team format, and have the mental ability to exercise sound, clinical judgment under pressure.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) and possess good time management, organizational, and supervisory skills.
Basic computer skills are required.
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) is preferred.
Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination preferred.
2 years of supervisory experience is preferred.
Education / License:
Must have a RN degree with a current/valid Tennessee license with preferred course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, primary care, etiology, and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug use, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectual developmental delays.
Must demonstrate a working knowledge of supervisory, administrative, and clinical skills.
Physical:

Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors.
Hearing of normal and soft tones.
Close eye work.
Valid driver's license.
Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.

Physical de-escalation techniques will only be implemented at McNabb Center facilities and not in community settings.

The Per Diem Mobile Research Nurse is a Registered Nurse who will work per diem and has experience across multiple therapeutic areas with the ability to work independently and integrate well with the Nursing Solutions Group. With interest/expertise in Science 37's decentralized model of care delivery, the Mobile Research Nurse will perform delivery of care to participants as well as collaborate with brick and mortar sites, if indicated, for shared clinical trial implementation. The Mobile Research Nurse ensures the professional delivery of patient care in compliance with all federal and state regulations, Good Clinical Practice, and Standard Operating Procedures.
*This is a travel role that requires on-site visits to participants homes.
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
Participate and provide research nurse services to qualified study participants at home
Apply clinical research and nursing practices to develop solutions to complex problems
Collaborate with Lead and Per Diem Mobile Research Nurses on solutioning, education, and resource support
Participate in activities that will further the operational development of Science 37 nursing service delivery
Develop relationships with study team members and serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on all nursing processes

BSN degree preferred

Compensation varies based on location and work being performed. The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $50-55 per hour. Employees may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and commissions. The successful candidate's actual pay will also be based on qualifications and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.

Education/Experience
Graduated from an accredited Bachelor or Associate Degree program in nursing.
Applicant must have an unrestricted valid Registered Nurse license within the state of North Carolina or a state that is accepted as reciprocity.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) minimally required, current ACLS could be substituted for BLS.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) recommended. Can be acquired through the facility following appointment to position.

Complexity of Duties
The nurse provides a full range of comprehensive nursing care that includes assessing patient needs, development of a plan of care, administration of medications and therapeutic measures, operation of specialized medical equipment, evaluation of the plan of care to ensure that the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient are met and counseling and teaching of patient and families. The nurse must recognize and respond appropriately to patient conditions that deviate from normal and identify, analyze, and report on causative factors and reactions.
Guidelines consist of professional standards of practice as determined by the nurse practice act, nursing and medical policy and procedures, standing orders, and hospital and agency policies.
Complies also with federal, state, accrediting and local regulations. These guidelines are not always specifically applicable to the individual patient or situation and independent judgment is required in selecting the most appropriate guideline, and applying the intent of the guideline to the specific situation at hand. The nurse receives assistance from the Director, Division of Nursing or his/her designee with difficult or unusual problems.
Supervision Received
The nurse independently plans, schedules, and provides nursing care in coordination with the medical care plan and attempts to solve problems only within established procedures. This is done under the supervision of the Director, Division of Nursing or his/her designee. The work is evaluated for technical soundness and adherence to professional standards.
Responsibility for Accuracy
The incumbent has a positive effect upon the recovery of the patient, is responsible for following policies and procedures, which serve as hospital guidelines, and prevents errors from occurring. Errors can have a negative patient outcome since the incumbent's performance affects the health, recovery, and rehabilitation of patients, and the quality of care provided. Evaluations and observations are used to modify and develop clinically appropriate treatment plans. Work can be verified or checked by the immediate supervisor, other health care providers or systems checks, but usually the responsibility for accuracy relies solely on the incumbent.
Contact with Others
Contacts are with patients, families, hospital personnel, and community agencies. Contacts with patients, families, and hospital personnel are to exchange, provide, and obtain information concerning the patient's physical and psychosocial health care problems, and needs. The nurse uses teaching and counseling methods to influence and motivate patient and family behavior.
Contacts with other health care or related disciplines within the hospital are for the purpose of collaboration and consultation.
Confidential Data
The incumbent has access to highly confidential patient medical and personal information. The Privacy Act of 1974 mandates that the incumbent shall maintain complete confidentiality of all administrative, medical, and all other pertinent information that comes to his/her attention or knowledge. The Act carries both civil and criminal penalties for unlawful disclosure of records. Violations of such confidentiality shall be cause for adverse action.
Mental/Visual/Physical
Work in the various services within the nursing department requires considerable walking, standing, bending, pushing, and lifting in helping patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers. These same activities are required in moving equipment and medical supplies. May occasionally move more than 15 pounds.
Environment
The work environment involves moderate risks of exposure to infectious disease, radiation, electrical hazards, irritant chemicals and explosive gases.
