POSITION TITLE: Behavioral Health Technician
REPORTS TO: Residential Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Residential Manager, the Behavioral Health Technician will perform designated non-clinical tasks that promote the overall health and well-being for both inpatient and outpatient clients. Provide exceptional direct and supportive services to include crisis management, assist with therapeutic activities and the facilitation of groups. These duties will be performed in a highly professional and enthusiastic manner in direct alignment with the mission, vision and values of Queen of Peace Center.
CORE FUNCTIONS
The following job-related functions may not include all of the duties, knowledge or abilities associated with this position:
Assist clients in meeting goals as developed by the treatment team.
Provide continuous supervision of clients ensuring compliance with scheduled services
Complete intake, orientation, explain rules, complete introductions to encourage participation
Complete safety check of client's personal belongings
Maintain confidentiality as dictated by HIPAA
Monitor/Supervise client participation in assigned activities/requirements
Answer phones professionally
Document any and all concerns related to clients behavior in daily shift log and in Electronic Health Record and communicate to proper staff members
Maintain a clean and safe environment in addition to supervising chores
Monitor vital signs as required
Serve as a positive role model
Complete documentation of group logs and following safety and programmatic protocols
Adhere to medication policies and work collaboratively with nursing staff to ensure all medication protocols are followed and charted accurately and appropriately
Complete daily progress notes for each client within program guidelines
Facilitate assigned and scheduled groups as requested
Screen and monitor detoxification clients
Maintain licensure (LIMA, CPR, FA)
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, and Training
Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED or an Associate's degree in human services or other related field preferred
CPR/First Aid and Med-Level 1 Certification
Missouri Class E driver's license or other comparable license
Preferred 2 years' experience working in a residential setting, preferably in substance use or behavioral health
Oral and written communication skills

Build rapport and establish trust with foster and at-risk youth. Ensure a Strength-Based Treatment approach is utilized with clients.

Keeps supervisor informed of events, concerns, needs as appropriate.
Work as a partner in the community to build new relationships with community members such as mentors, potential employers, other community resources and funding sources on behalf of the youth the program serves.
Develop and maintain knowledge of programs in the service delivery area that could be used as resources for youth.
Create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by funder contracts.
Record client data, outcome measurement and other significant information into ETO and other required database systems in a timely manner to show the effectiveness of the Chafee program.
Ensure program complies with accreditation and funder standards.
Adhere to agency rules, policies and procedures including attendance, program/department specific procedures, workplace safety, code of conduct, social media, training requirements, and confidentiality.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in social work, drug and alcohol education, counseling, psychology, sociology, education, or criminal justice.
Knowledge of treatment for at-risk and foster care youth is preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and treatment plans. Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively speak before groups of clients, employees and/or managers of the agency.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. + Current active unrestricted license such as RN LCSW LMHC LICSW LPC (as allowed by applicable state laws) LMFT LMSW (as allowed by applicable state laws) or Clinical Psychologist to practice as a health professional within the scope of licensure in applicable states or territory of the United States required.
+ Previous experience in casemanagement and telephonic and/or in person coaching with members with a broad range of complex psychiatric/substance abuse and/or medical disorders.
+ Managed care experience required.

+ Experience in health coaching and motivational interviewing techniques preferred.

Interview youths to assess situations, capabilities, and problems to determine services that meets their needs.
Serve as liaison between youths, home, school, family services, courts, and others to help resolve youth issues and daily life problems.
Collect documentation from youths and involved entities to maintain case history, records, and reports.
Assist with parental and family counseling and provide other resources as needed.
Gather information about youth's background, needs, and progress.
Advocate for youth and community needs.
Attend community fairs. Travel to multiple locations.

After the initial assessment, provide linkage to other community services, when possible, for individuals found to be ineligible for PAS/Individual Service Coordination services.
Advocates on behalf of the individual and/or family to assist the individual in obtaining services to which he/she is eligible and has chosen. Ensures the direct involvement and participation of the individual and their family in this process.
Reviews individual's medical, residential, vocational, educational, legal and financial needs and individual choices through Visiting Notes, as required.
Schedule and complete Discovery and Person Centered Plan process annually, or as required.
Accurately and thoroughly documents various services delivered and maintains individual files as specified by program and agency guidelines.
Functions in a problem solving capacity with provider agencies regarding service coordination, following the ISC Conflict Resolution guideline.

* Previous experience in casemanagement and telephonic and/or in person coaching with members with a broad range of complex psychiatric/substance abuse and/or medical disorders.
