GENERAL LABORER CREW LEADER - PUBLIC WORKS/STREETS DEPARTMENT CITY OF GALLATIN The purpose of this position is to lead and participate in semiskilled and skilled work in the maintenance of city property for the Streets Department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Leads and participates with general streets, ground maintenance, utility and related work.
2. Leads and participates in mowing, edging, spraying, trimming, and mulching.
3. Leads and participates in the following (including but not limited to):
* Picking up litter on the side of City roads and other City owned property.
* Painting walls, handrails, pulling weeds, cutting down tree limbs, trimming shrubs, planting seeds, flowers or flower bulbs, shrubs and trees.
4. Performs various street maintenance duties such as cleaning ditches, raking and spreading asphalt, and patching holes.
5. Assists with forming/ pouring concrete, laying asphalt, installing pipe, and general work.
6. Removes, installs, and changes street signs, paint crosswalks and related street markings.
7. Serves as traffic flagger on street and utility projects.
8. Maintains chemicals and lawn/ snow equipment.
9. Perform other related tasks as required and cross-train to cover other department positions when necessary.
10. Regular and predictable attendance.
11. Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma/GED.
* Must have a valid driver's license.
* Must have one (1) year of recent experience in construction, mowing, or landscaping. Preferred crew leading experience.

* Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary to the proper operation of varied construction and maintenance equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Execute Construction General Labor duties Learn our business and grow your career
Organize, carry and load heavy (up to 50lbs) job materials. Perform set-up and clean-up tasks on the job site.
Dig and back-fill trenches/holes.
Make repairs in crawl spaces (confined spaces), basements, and around home foundations.
Perform work duties while exposed to the outdoor elements: extreme heat, extreme cold, rainy weather, etc.

Installer
Knowledge of trade specific tools for installations and correct use of equipment
Previous experience working in the construction industry
Must have a valid, non-restrictive driver's license.
Ability to Lift heavy objects up to 22 kg
