Your future duties and responsibilities:

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Business, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline from an accredited college, university, or academic institution in the United States. (Master's preferred)
6+ years of professional experience in AI/ML, data analysis, visualization, and reporting.
Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automation.
Strong experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Proficiency with Tableau for creating dashboards and visual reports.
Experience creating automated data workflows, analytics processes, and processing pipelines.
Advanced knowledge of data visualization and reporting using a variety of software and tools.

Intern Position Summary
The Data Services Intern will work with the Data Services Team, headed by the Chief Data Officer (CDO). The Data Services team implements the policies of the Data Management Board (DMB) such as data modeling, data quality, and data governance. The team also performs hands-on technical work such as developing data pipelines and data integration, administering relational databases, and performing prototypes of emerging technology.
The summer intern will gain experience creating data models, analyzing data pipelines, conducting technology proofs of concept (POCs), and developing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

The Economics Program focuses on international economic issues and how they impact U.S. competitiveness, prosperity, and economic security. Key areas of focus include trade policy, supply chain resilience, investment policy, international finance, innovation and drivers of economic growth. What You'll Do
Identify and Onboard New Data Sources: Lead exhaustive research to identify, evaluate, and obtain new OSINT sources. Establish and maintain relationships with third-party data providers to continuously expand platform capabilities.
Perform Strategic Research and Analysis: Conduct exhaustive research and advanced analysis, including writing SQL for quantitative conclusions and leading the qualitative analysis of unstructured sources (e.g., program documents) to extract nuance, intent, and context. This work establishes analytical frameworks, enables evidence-based decisions, and sets the foundation for all product features.
Clean and Structure Data for Production: Profile, validate, and work with engineering to transform raw, complex data into standardized formats that integrate seamlessly with our existing infrastructure and support automation.
Build and Maintain Data Workflows: Create and document repeatable processes for efficient data ingestion, comprehensive quality checks, and maintenance, ensuring the system can scale.
Create and Maintain a Data Audit Structure: Design and implement robust data checks within existing frameworks, performing cross-source comparisons to ensure absolute accuracy and data integrity.
Collaborate Across Teams: Serve as the go-to data domain expert, working closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to translate customer needs into robust data solutions and inform the product roadmap. This includes creating quick-turnaround dashboards to test insights with real users before productization.
Document data assets - Create and maintain data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and process guides that enable teams to understand and use data effectively

Responsibilities
Conduct research and provide findings in support of client needs.
Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
Be an integral member of a project team and, in successive rotations, accept increasing responsibility.
Under the guidance of a mentor, complete both on-the-job and formal job-specific training.
Learn and leverage corporate tools.

Support the development and coordination of briefing packages and content to include brochures and media creation.

Qualifications
Current student enrolled at an accredited undergraduate program, in good standing in library science, operations research, industrial engineering, logistics, systems engineering, business administration, corporate communication, supply chain management, economics, or a related major.
Must be available for 10-12 weeks starting in May/June 2026.
Strong interpersonal and listening skills required, with ability to develop and maintain professional relationships within LMI and with its clients.
Strong communication skills, a go-getter attitude, analytical skills, and use of MS Office products are mandatory
Ability to contribute to a professional work environment by demonstrating integrity, promoting teamwork, and fostering positive communication.
Strong problem solving, time-management, and organizational skills.
Strong planning skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize assignments with minimum supervision. Must be self-directed and detail oriented in completing assigned tasks and projects.
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
