Death & Co company history timeline

2007

When Ravi DeRossi and David Kaplan opened Death & Co. in January 2007, the cocktail revival was still in its infancy.

In November 2007, after a year-long investigation by the SLA and regular visits by police, the D&C team thought things were settled with a $10,000 fine and one-week suspension of their liquor license.

2009

Then, in July of 2009, a New York State Supreme Court judge ruled in their favor and a full liquor license was at last secured.

2010

In 2010, Death & Co won Best American Cocktail Bar and World’s Best Cocktail Menu at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited awards.

2014

The Death & Co book, which published October of 2014, has quickly become the definitive guide to the contemporary cocktail movement.
