Goals include:
• Assist to Volunteer in the community - Research local volunteer opportunities that include working with pets/animals in some capacity. Make community connections while learning how to be socially appropriate and reciprocate in conversations with potential volunteer employers.

Assist with serving and oversee resident well-being during meals.
Assist and Supervise medications as directed for each resident as directed by the Resident Care plan. Document and properly complete medication in EMAR as directed through the EMAR and per policy and procedure.
Complete required documentation in a neat, organized, and timely manner using only black or blue pen.
Complete all documentation per policy and procedure during your shift. Enter any visible change of status or irregularities on your assignment sheets. Communicate every illness, accident, incident and resident transfer to the Care Supervisor, Case Manager or Director.
Walk rounds with incoming shift and make report (written and/or verbal) referring to assignment sheets to update as to resident status.
Complete daily neat and tidy's according to the schedule on task/ care sheets.
Consistently demonstrate respect and compassion for all residents. Respecting resident privacy and their personal property.
Conduct and supervise any evacuation or implementation of the disaster or emergency plan per policy and procedure.
Assist with obtaining weights for residents as directed by the Care Supervisor, Care Coordinator, or Case Manager and document accordingly.
Assist with prompting, reminding and escorting residents as directed in the Resident Care plan as reflected on task/ care sheet to any activities and meals.
Assist Activities Director with activities and programming whether the Activities Director is present or not as reflected on task/ care sheet. Including Resident Council meetings.
Assist Residents as needed to completed and submit any grievances and recommendations. Boxes to collect these are located across from the second and third floor elevators.
Listen for, and answer "call bells" promptly. Assist any resident as needed in accordance to their Resident Care plan as reflected on task/ care sheet.
Assist to distribute all resident mail and correspondence as needed. Contact Activities Director or Case Manager if resident needs assistance reading or interpreting mail.

Advocates is seeking a caring Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a bright and active young man with a developmental disability who is predominately non-verbal. He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in his community. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in his life by helping him participate in everyday activities and achieve his goals including:
• Health and fitness - using the gym, walking, hiking
• Social skills - making community connections, increasing communication
• Independent living skills - grocery shopping, meal prep, personal care tasks (including assistance in the restroom and showering)
• Community classes - taking drumming classes
The ideal candidate for this DSP position is comfortable assisting with personal care needs, has experience assisting people with regulating emotions, is reliable, creative, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Facilitated communication experience is a plus. Please respond with a resume or summary of experience.
Candidates must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. Internet access and a valid email address are required.
Available Shifts:
Monday (1:30 PM - 6:30 PM)
Wednesday (1 PM - 6:30 PM)
Evening hours run later at the end of February through mid-April, and September-October
Pay rate: $23 per hour when providing direct support with possible room for advancement. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour.

Exceptional Family Resources is seeking a motivated and outgoing individual with the availability for work weekends to work with a young school aged male with a developmental disability that lives with his parents.
In this role, you will help him learn key independent living skills, experience social activities in the community, and work on communication and time concept skills. The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills, be energetic, and motivated. It is a plus if applicant enjoys Legos, swimming, books, and History.
Schedule: Approximately 10 hours a week total. (5 hours of Respite and 5 hours of Community Habilitation) Flexible schedule to be agreed upon with individual/family, but weekend availability preferred.
Payrate: Respite is $22.50 per hour. Community Habilitation is $24.00 per hour
Location: North Syracuse
