ABOUT THE SAFE HARBOR PROGRAM
Since its inception 50 years ago, the Children's Advertising Review Unit (CARU), a division of BBB National Programs, helps companies comply with laws and guidelines that protect children from deceptive or inappropriate marketing. BBB National Programs operates the nation's first FTC-approved Safe Harbor Program under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and monitors child-targeted media to ensure that advertisements are truthful, accurate, appropriate, and in compliance with applicable guidelines, including COPPA.
YOUR IMPACT
As the Privacy Specialist, Youth Privacy, you will advise our COPPA Safe Harbor program participants to ensure compliance with COPPA, CARU's Privacy Online Guidelines and other applicable laws and best practices. Your deep knowledge of the legal landscape coupled with your expertise in digital forensics, data collection analysis, and/or artificial intelligence will help the organization further develop its compliance efforts in the children and teen spaces. You will work with Safe Harbor and CARU team members to ensure the program is meeting its obligations and commitments to the Federal Trade Commission as well as deliver thought leadership to participants via blogs and webinars. In addition, you will contribute to the thought leadership and development of the TeenAge Privacy Program (TAPP).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide guidance and support on child-related technology and privacy issues to stakeholders.
Assess Safe Harbor participant online services for compliance with COPPA and other applicable laws and best practices.
Research, develop, and maintain appropriate tools and documentation to assess privacy and security features of Safe Harbor online services including websites, mobile apps, and video games.
Create project plans and manage projects according to internal project management standards.
Maintain ongoing communication with COPPA safe harbor participants through written compliance alerts, tips and webinars.
Constantly monitor and stay abreast of new US federal and state laws and regulations affecting children data privacy and online safety.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Must have

Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience
Working knowledge of relevant privacy laws and regulations including COPPA, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Age-Appropriate Design Codes, and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Job Summary:
The Family Advocate will work as a member of a team whose primary role is to engage all families to partner with us to promote children's healthy development and school readiness. The Family Advocate uses knowledge of the principles of family engagement to supportfamilies in their roles as their child's primary educator, encourages parent/child interactions that promote children's school readiness and healthy development, and enhances family well-being. In this role, the Family Advocate will provide more intensive and targeted support to vulnerable families and families of children with chronic health conditions and special needs in order to ensure that our engagement strategies meet their specialized needs.
The Family Advocate will work as part of the program's broader team to expand family engagement strategies that will create a sense of belonging and shared community among families, with the goal of enhancing the relationships and support that families provide to one another in their shared aspirations for their children and themselves. The position may involve reassignment of caseload and/or center location as deemed necessary for program operations.

Provide more intensive weekly face to face or phone contact with vulnerable families on caseload as identified through their self-assessment or family interactions/communication.
Assure that families receive immediate support during times of crisis, and assist with referrals to community based resources to meet counseling, treatment, entitlement or other needs.
Identify and access services and resources responsive to family interests and goals and follow-up with parents to ensure that services met their expectations and needs.

Coordinate or refer families to opportunities for continuing education, employment training and other employment services through formal or informal networking in the community.

Inform Health and Nutrition Coordinators, MHD, Early Learning and Family Engagement Coordinators regarding children with allergies, chronic health conditions, or special needs to e that medical documentation is received and case conferences occur prior to entry.
Establish regular coordination and communication with Health, Nutrition and Disabilities team members in order to provide more intensive support to families of children with chronic health conditions and special needs, including targeted goal setting, and assistance with building family advocacy skills to navigate community systems of care for their children
Work in coordination with Health and Nutrition team members to ensure that a determination of a medical and dental home and insurance is made within 30 days of a child entering the program and a determination of the child's EPSDT status is made within 90 days of a child entering a program.
Develop strategies with parents to ensure that all children on caseload are up to date on EPSDT requirements, including receiving timely evaluation and treatment for identified concerns.
Develop effective communication and collaborative strategies with teaching teams to encourage family engagement in home learning activities, including individualizing activities based upon family interests and children's developmental status.
Establish and maintain working relationships with community partners to strengthen access to resources and training identified as priority goal areas by families.
ERSEA
Recruitment
Ensure timely follow up on program inquiries and maintain an updated tracking system of potential enrollees.
Assist Family Engagement and /or ERSEA leadership and participate in scheduling, planning and coordinating recruitment activities through the year.
Eligibility, Selection and Enrollment
Ensure the eligibility, selection, and enrollment processes adheres to Head Start Performance Standards and program/Shine Early Learning ISP/PP .
Per interview with family, determine the eligibility of children/families, ensuring that all family documentation is accurate and complete.
Review application and eligibility documents received and work directly with families to ensure that all necessary enrollment/intake forms are completed and obtained in a timely manner for all children/families assigned to their center(s).
Work with the Family Engagement Coordinator/ERSEA Lead to maintain an up to date and accurate wait list and enroll children/ families based on selection criteria to fill vacancies as they occur.
If applicable; determine family eligibility for extended day services and assist families with completing child care subsidy applications.
Attendance
Monitor and follow up of children on caseload with daily calls to children that are absent from the program.
Per program: provide clerical support in attendance entry.
Develop attendance goals with families whose child is experiencing chronic absenteeism.
Assist Family Engagement Coordinator and/or ERSEA Leads to support strategies when center's ADA falls below 85%, and to maintain Attendance Action Plans.
Maintain Accurate and Timely Record Keeping and Reporting
Effectively manage workload and ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation
Maintain accurate electronic and hard copy records and case notes to support positive child and family outcomes. Ensure that all ERSEA (Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance) information is accurately captured and documented in electronic and hard copy records.
Document efforts to assist families to identify their strengths, needs and self sufficiency goals through completion of Family Self Assessment, Family Partnership Agreement, and case notes.
Record, monitor and follow up on referrals for support services for reporting requirements.
Submit reports as needed and requested, such as monthly summary tracking reports, etc.
Ensure that all PIR data is up to date in data system per caseload

General Summary:

Performs advanced technical level human services work, which may include supervisory responsibility, under regular supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Make necessary referrals to appropriate Social Service agencies or other organizations assisting with counseling, financial support, temporary housing, etc.
Search for and compile information on any previous Domestic Violence related history a defendant may have in the court system.

Weekend Residential Advocate The Residential Advocate provides support and direct assistance in a trauma informed setting to promote the health, safety and wellbeing of women and children who are domestic violence survivors. We have immediate openings for weekend shifts: 7am-3:30pm, 3pm-11:30pm, 11pm-7:30am.
Note: Residential Advocates at BAK are essential employees and expected to report to work during weather emergencies or other unusual events. Responsibilities:

Coordinate activities and assist residents with daily living tasks and/or concrete service plans, ensuring safety, cleanliness and order in the Center. Be responsive to moment-to-moment resident needs and act as a liaison between the resident and counseling staff.
Provides transportation for residents to appointments as deemed necessary in program vehicle, or with tokens and taxi vouchers. These may include court, medical appointments, social services, and housing agencies, and to pick up client belongings that were left behind.
Assists with Child Care duties as requested and with weekly recreational and leisure time activities at the Center. Assists with BAK's special seasonal events such as the Holiday Store, Summer Camp and Birthday celebrations.
Reads the current Log at the start of every shift and adds client notes, shift log notes and critical incident reports that are neat, timely and accurate. Assists at Community Meetings to discuss resident concerns and build a sense of community.
Provides supportive assistance to residents in developing life skills as identified in their service plan. Assists in the sorting, storing and distribution of donations to the center.
Overnight Residential Advocates in addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, complete wellness checks and safety rounds of the facility every hour.

Complete communication evaluations that are included in the Communication Specialist training provided by ODP.
Assist to build a communication plan or guide to support communication in a person's life. Develops the behavioral guide in conjunction with the individual and the team to support the person ensuring that the guide is written in clear, measurable and observable terms, and in person-centered language.
Develops applicable ways to monitor target behaviors by use of data charts, spreadsheets, and graphs.
Trains the individual, staff and families on the communication or behavioral guide.
Provides additional training to staff, families, and people we support as appropriate and applicable.
Monitors progress across all environments through data review, participation in team meetings and contact with the person receiving services.
Providies direct and indirect services to the person supported and their team.
Provides a written progress report monthly to the individual and to team members by the end of the following month.
Completes debriefing of significant incidents with the team within 48-72 hours of the incident.

Maintains caseload for after hour calls and situations or finds appropriate coverage for after hour calls and situations when not available.

Education:

General Summary:
Develop, monitor, and adjusts family service plan and individualized client services: Working under the general supervision of a program supervisor, independently arranges the sequence of work, obtains necessary information and data, selects appropriate methods and procedures, and varies these as necessary to address different case situations
Provides general client services and case management: offers significant support and guidance, as well as service assistance, which directly impact the social, physical and/or economic well-being of the clients served and, at times, their families/significant others .
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
Client Referrals:
Accepts referrals for social services
Assists clients to assess their situation, define their problems, and identify acceptable courses of action by availing themselves of recommended community services.
Completes initial intakes/assessments
Consults with county/community/agencies to identify and develop resources for client assistance
Family Service Plan and Individualized Client Services:
