The Youth and Family Support Specialist (YFSS) assists the Treatment Coordinator and Treatment Foster Care Treatment Parent in providing direct care services to children and youth receiving Treatment Foster Care (TFC) services. The YFSS may also perform other tasks as required to expedite or accomplish tasks in the TFC home, office, or community, including but not limited to: transportation, supervision of biological family contact, supervision of children during meetings and in-service, assist in the facilitation of birth parent groups, connect youth and families with social activities, office related functions, and other duties as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Be available at scheduled hours to assist with maintaining visual and auditory contact with youth during home visits, in-service, and community activities;
Assist in identifying potential safety hazards to the youth and taking necessary steps to eliminate or minimize injury.
Transport youth to family visits, external appointments, and other activities when needed and as appropriate to the service being delivered;
Monitor and/or supervise biological family contact as per court order;
In TFC, assist youth with Independent Living Skills;
Support and guide youth while participating in peer activities;
Participate in program activities with the youth as needed;
Communicate any/all information pertaining to a youth, including prescheduled appointments, to program staff;
Deliver services as outlined in service plan/ISP;
Support staff in job related functions and units of service.

Gather program data, as needed, and assist in preparation of data and/or summarizing information;

Attend appropriate in-service, staff training , SWAN trainings, or other required job related internal and external training;
Participate in supervision.
Qualifications
Clearances. State Police; FBI clearance; child abuse clearance; CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training; any additional background checks/clearances required by state governing bodies.

Job Duties
As directed by Director of Legal Advocacy, if working in Legal Advocacy Office, counsel clients in legal options and expectations; support and assist clients in all aspects of the criminal and civil justice systems, accompanying them to hearings as requested. Participate in community outreach and systems advocacy for Lethality Assessment Program.

As relevant to worksite, using an educative/supportive/trauma-informed model: provide direct services including: telephone hotline counseling, safety planning, information and referrals, accompaniment, individual advocacy, individual empowerment counseling, legal advocacy, transportation, support groups, and victim compensation assistance.
As relevant to worksite, provide intakes and transportation as needed, arrange hotline coverage as warranted.
While providing hotline counseling, offer education and information about other community options, particularly if DVSSP has no available beds.

Perform general housekeeping duties when residents are unavailable or away, always prioritizing direct services to clients. These services may include non- medical counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, personnel at child daycare centers and schools, and consultation to installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting military personnel and their family members. ARC CYB counselors may be assigned to DoDEA schools and community schools and will need to have experience working in a school setting to qualify for ARC role in backing up a school position. CYB counselors may also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on demand assignments. ARC adult counselors may be assigned to support MFLC services in a variety of military community and readiness centers, as well as on-demand and surge assignments. Job Duties
As directed by Director of Legal Advocacy, if working in Legal Advocacy Office, counsel clients in legal options and expectations; support and assist clients in all aspects of the criminal and civil justice systems, accompanying them to hearings as requested. Accompany clients to law enforcement agencies and advocate on their behalf as requested. Assist clients in filing Protection From Abuse petitions, accompanying them to Southwestern PA Legal Services and advocating for them at hearings.
Keep up to date with prevailing laws, statutes, and local procedures pertaining to domestic violence.
Develop/maintain good working relationships with and assist in trainings to legal/law enforcement systems.
Participate in community outreach and systems advocacy for Lethality Assessment Program.
Participate in advocacy activities on behalf of domestic violence victims on a local, state, and national level to assure increased levels of awareness of domestic violence issues by policy makers and the public.
As relevant to worksite, using an educative/supportive/trauma-informed model: provide direct services including: telephone hotline counseling, safety planning, information and referrals, accompaniment, individual advocacy, individual empowerment counseling, legal advocacy, transportation, support groups, and victim compensation assistance.
As relevant to worksite, provide intakes and transportation as needed, arrange hotline coverage as warranted.
While providing hotline counseling, offer education and information about other community options, particularly if DVSSP has no available beds.
Supervise and train worksite volunteers as directed.
Report child abuse as mandated by law, reinforcing to volunteers that they are mandated reporters and to report child abuse as directed by the requisite process in place.
Maintain detailed and timely electronic counseling records. Prepare and submit all statistics and reports as instructed.
Maintain facility, staff, volunteer, and client confidentiality at all times.
In the safe house, encourage and supervise the performance of housekeeping chores by clients. Perform general housekeeping duties when residents are unavailable or away, always prioritizing direct services to clients. If/when clients are not available, ensure that all trash/recyclables are removed for pick-up, wash and dry bedding upon exits, and assure clean space as clients exit.
Complete trainings as directed by supervisor.
Other duties as assigned.
