POSITION SUMMARY

Bartenders will use their knowledge and expertise to make the bar look and function flawlessly. They should be passionate about the guest service experience, but also have an eye for detail - from the money that moves through their hands, to the information they provide to guests, to the quality of their drinks.
No matter what position you are in, there are a few things that are critical to success - creating a safe workplace, following company policies and procedures, protecting company assets, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring your uniform and personal appearance are professional. Bartenders will be on their feet and moving around (stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time) and taking a hands-on approach to their work (move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance; reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping). Doing all these things well (and other reasonable job duties as requested) is critical for Bartenders - to get it right for our guests and our business each and every time.

Summary Job Description: ASM Global /SAVOR, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for an Assistant Restaurant/Catering Manager at the Van Andel Arena, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for Barback's at the Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, MI. This position is responsible for bar service areas inventory and that these locations are replenished at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Responsible for completing tasks related to stocking, replenishing, cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of beverages under the guidance of the Bartender.* Maintains and stocks adequate supplies of bar items such as glasses, cups, napkins, drink supplies, condiments, etc.* Stock refrigerating units with wines, beer, replace beer kegs, etc.* Replenish ice at bar.* Clean and polish bar, counters, shelves, equipment, bar stools, etc.* Trash pickup and disposal at bar and bar service areas* Review work procedures and operational problems in order to determine ways to improve service, performance, and/or safety * Other Duties may be assigned Education and/or Experience:* High School Diploma or equivalent desired. * 1-2 years' experience in food service and/or working in a bar environment. Skills and Abilities:* Must be 18 years of age or older* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing guest and personal services; this includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfaction.* Performing for people or dealing directly with the public. * Good oral communication skills* Mature judgment and professionalism in handling all matters* Ability to understand orders* Ability to understand information and ideas presented in writing* Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
