Our rich diversity of people and ideas makes us a stronger, more innovative organization. **Job Summary** The OHE Foreman leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to the placement of overhead electrical cables to meet customer needs, ensuring crew safety, keeping track of employee hours, completing daily & weekly safety briefings/inspections, and calls in project utility locations. This position oversees the Line team and works with other personnel from various departments. Responsibilities + Obtain all the necessary materials for the job, and ensure all permits and licenses are in place. + Oversee work related to each project and assume full responsibility for its quality and timeliness. + Compliance with proper safety standards, procedures, and work practices according to MasTec or the customer, whichever standard is higher. + Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections. + Disseminates information and ensures understanding of safety briefings. + Perform aerial tasks, such as new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and lashing. This is only allowed if no critical work is being performed that the Foreman is not needed as a Qualified observer. + Place overhead electrical cables. + Connect wires and cables to terminals and attach/detach various kinds of hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles. + Coordinate and supervise daily tasks for crew members related to digging and placing product. + Perform construction work, such as digging holes, placing cable, air pipe, and inner duct work in various types of conduit systems and open excavations. + Climb utility poles and/or use aerial lift truck to place cables on poles per system design. + Drive, haul, and/or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews in completion of work. + Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade. Qualifications **Minimum** + High school diploma, or equivalent. + 6 years of experience. + 2 years of supervisory experience. + Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required. **Preferred** + 8 or more years of experience, including extensive experience supervising and training skilled labor. + OSHA 20 Certification. **Physical Demands and Work Environment** This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Five Key Roles of the Foreman - Civil: * Accurately enter all timesheets into Procore; including proper cost codes for work performed the previous day by 9:00 am. * Enter and validate complete daily logs including weather, notes, photos, equipment, productivity (deliveries), documents, and descriptions for work completed the previous day by 9:00am. * Communicate daily production goals to the team and assign duties to qualified tradespersons to achieve target production rates. * Complete job site safety inspection, toolbox talks and identify potential hazards to the team to ensure project safety. All incident reports are completed in a timely manner. * Ensure no T&M and/or change order work is started until PM has validated written commitment from the customer and ensure accurate tracking of T&M and/or change order work in Procore. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Validate accurate take-off quantities and ensure that materials, equipment, and subcontractors are on site according to the project schedule. * Review, validate, and shoot grades and ensure elevations are correct according to the latest drawing revision. * Complete 3-week look ahead and review with General Superintendent and PM to align to the project schedule. * Daily communication and job progress update with the PM including any identified risks to schedule, quantities, or manpower that to be addressed. * Track equipment, form, shoring and other assets on the job and remove when work is completed. * Pour card validation. * Perform daily equipment inspection in Tenna. * Organize Miss Dig/One Call. * Ensure the quality of daily work completed on site. * Execute all punch list items to completion. * Organize and direct personnel to execute project requirements. * Interpret plans, shop drawings and specifications to perform work correctly. * Order materials per plans and specifications as assigned by supervisor. * Schedule equipment and tools as assigned and coordinated. * Organize and manage all demobilization activities for manpower, equipment and materials. * Ensure craftsmen maintain a clean and safe job site. * Ensure OSHA, safety, and environmental regulation compliance. * Identify potential design, construction or scheduling problems and advise superintendent. * Clarify discrepancies and questions concerning plans and drawings. * Oversee construction projects from beginning to end and coordinate workers without supervision. * Ability to identify and correct unsafe acts. * Communicating and upholding the Company's commitment to Integrity and Code of Ethics, as well as ensuring the same for the entire team. * Other relevant tasks as assigned. Education, Experience & Qualifications: * 15+ years of Civil Foreman experience. * Valid Driver's License with clean driving record preferred. * OSHA 30 certification. * Experience leading crews of 6+ people while completing the following tasks: * Deep excavation at utility construction site. * Water, storm, and sanitary sewer pipe. * Dewatering, bypass pumping, wet utilities, heavy equipment, line alignment, leak testing, and knowledge of local specifications, materials, and methods. * Progressive utility construction. * Pipe laying. * Pipe laser. * Proven experience supervising self-performed subsurface construction, ability to multi-task and resolve constructability and equipment issues. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to job coach. * Safety attitude. Travel: Travel is required for this position as the employee must be able to travel to surrounding job sites. F&B will compensate a per diem for travel and overnight stay if applicable. Work Environment: As a Foreman, you will be subject to various work environments. Employee is responsible to post N.C. State Plumbing Contractor's license in the name of Gaston County Schools (GCS). The license must be surrendered to GCS, and cannot be used for personal gain. Duties and Responsibilities • Supervises, directs, and inspects the work of plumbers in the installation and maintenance of water, waste, air and gas systems. • Designs modifications and small installation projects, which includes equipment and pipe sizing, layout and associated work under supervision. • Prioritize work both in daily routine and operational emergency situations. • Responsible for soliciting bids and supervising work of sub-contractors in plumbing related projects. • Performs skilled plumbing work associated with renovation and construction projects. • Responsible for review, coordination, and implementation of yearly winterizing plan. • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring trap and septic tank testing and backflow testing reports and services. • Performs administrative duties associated with work orders and scheduling staff to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. • Responsible for participating in ongoing alterations to Architectural and Engineering Guidelines (A/E Guide). • Review of new constructions blueprints and inspection of Bond generated projects to ensure adherence to codes and budget guidelines. • Operates and performs routine maintenance and up-keep of equipment and tools. • Ensure staff conducts periodic inventory of all tools and equipment assigned to personnel of the trade; maintain a computerized listing of such inventory and submits the required report to the director within two weeks of completing such inventory. • Considerable knowledge of all department operating procedures to include but not limited to the work order procedures, credit card procedures and other departmental procedures developed and implemented. • Responsible for ensuring all trade personnel and new hires are trained in the proper use of all material handling and operating equipment. • Responsible for ensuring all automotive equipment assigned is operated and maintained as outlined in applicable district's procedures. • Reviews work upon completion for adherence to established trade practices and safety standards and is further evaluated on the basis of continued and efficient operations of repaired systems and installations. • Performs other related work as required. The costs of maintaining said license and qualifier status will be borne by Gaston County Schools. Special Requirements • This employee must hold plumbing license based on State requirements as directed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler. This license will “qualify” Gaston County Schools to draw local building permits. Personal use of this qualifying license is not permitted. • Employee must possess or be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate driver's license recognized by North Carolina for the weight and type of vehicles operated as required by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
