Underground Foreman
Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers is looking for an Underground Foreman in our Ocoee, FL, branch. The Underground Foreman at Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers, Inc. leads the installation of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and multi-family settings. This role involves performing underground work and supervising fitters and helpers on-site, ensuring that all work is completed in a timely, accurate, and safe manner, and in compliance with relevant codes and WAFS standards. The foreman works directly under the guidance of the Underground superintendent/manager.
Day to Day:
Lead and supervise the installation of fire sprinkler systems, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to required standards.
Oversee the layout, assembly, and installation of pipe systems. This includes applying knowledge of fire sprinkler system operations and interpreting blueprints and installation instructions.
Perform maintenance and replacement work on system components, such as valves, hydrants, backflow, PIV post.
Proactively notify management of any issues, concerns, or changes on the job site.
Address employee performance or behavior issues in collaboration with management.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors to ensure project goals are met and expectations exceeded.
Accurately complete and submit all necessary reports, including time sheets, accident reports, and production documentation, on time.
Ensure compliance with all work and safety rules and enforce proper safety protocols on the job site.
Responsible for the care, maintenance, and safekeeping of assigned tools and equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area, including the company vehicle.
Perform other duties as assigned by the underground superintendent/manager
Attend monthly safety meetings at the local branch.
Working outside on job sites for long hours in all seasons, including summer months.
Physical requirements include standing, sitting, bending, lifting, and climbing. Lifting will include up to 60 pounds.
Qualifications
What are the Qualifications for this position?
Minimum 2 years' experience as a utility foreman or in a related role.
Extensive hands-on experience installing fire sprinkler systems, reading blueprints, and conducting system testing.
Knowledgeable in various pipe types and installation methods, including push joint, mechanical joint, restraint joints, and flanged connections.
Skilled in trenching and shoring techniques, with an understanding of soil types, dewatering strategies, and requirements for optimum moisture, density, and compaction.
Over 2 years of experience operating heavy machinery, including excavators and front-end loaders.
Travel within the local community is required.
Must possess the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate will be organized, professional, and a good communicator.
Must be able to wear proper protective equipment as required on all job sites.
Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and pre-employment background check screening, including 10 years of employment verification, is required to be hired at Wayne Automatic.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise jobs by walking the job site and provide help to assist bore crew as needed.
- Operate directional drill and support equipment for underground utility or training purpose.
- Understanding of directional boring principals, mixing systems and mud, use of mud vac rigs, etc.
- Secure work site, equipment and materials at the end of each shift.
- Help crew members to clean-up job site after work is done, place temporary asphalt patches or concrete on streets as needed, replace sidewalks as needed.
- Drive/tow truck with drill to job site.
- Performs preventive maintenance by greasing, oiling and making minor repair on equipment.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
