What We're Looking For
To be considered, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Minimum 3 consecutive years as a legal assistant/paralegal in a defense law firm
Minimum 2 consecutive years specifically in Workers' Compensation legal support
Experience managing multiple attorneys and high-volume caseloads
Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures
Proficiency with:
DOAH, ECF filings, and PACER
Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
Vendor portals (e.g., record retrieval companies)
Litify/Salesforce experience is a plus
Exceptional grammar, time management, and written/verbal communication skills
Ability to juggle deadlines, calendars, pleadings, and client communications in a fast-paced setting
Key Responsibilities
Draft and format correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents
Handle heavy calendaring of court dates, depositions, and deadlines
Coordinate scheduling with clients, vendors, and courts
Prepare and follow up on subpoenas
Organize medical records and discovery documents
Process incoming/outgoing mail
Support trial prep and file management as needed
