Job Summary:
The ELD Itinerant teacher, acting as the district teacher for English Language Learners (ELLs) will provide English vocabulary, grammar, and conversation instruction to identified ELLs. The ELD Itinerant teacher will be responsible for the implementation of the English Language Proficiency Standards, the Discrete Skills Inventory and district curriculum. The ELD Itinerant teacher reports directly to site principal and the ELAD department.
Candidates must complete an on-line application which requires appropriate Arizona certification, valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits.
Key Responsibilities:
* Utilizes district/state adopted material and curriculum guides in instructional planning and implementation
* Continuously and accurately collects student achievement data using a variety of tools (e.g. assessments, projects, checklists, anecdotal records, portfolios, etc.), utilizes this information to make instructional and management decisions that will positively impact student achievement
* Establishes positive relationships with classroom teachers and parents
* Maintains open lines of communication
* Attends and participates in professional development
* Demonstrates a willingness to maintain a flexible schedule
* Works collaboratively and communicates with other ELD Itinerant teachers
* Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials
* Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in education, language, ESL or related field
* Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
* SEI, ESL or Bilingual Endorsement
* 1-3 years of general teaching experience
* Demonstrates knowledge of Second Language Acquisition
* Experience managing a schedule across multiple schools or locations
