Medical Laboratory Scientists (sometimes referred to as clinical laboratory scientists, or medical technologists) are responsible for performing all aspects of testing on patient samples in an attempt to detect the absence or presence of a number of diseases. These medical professionals may examine a host of different types of samples, including various body fluids, feces, cells and tissues. Upon conclusion of the testing, the Medical Laboratory Scientist will report back to the ordering physician and consult with him or her about the results.

• Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures; interprets and analyzes results.
• Identifies and corrects problems within the scope of training and education.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and validates lab equipment.
• Performs, records, and evaluates Quality Control.
• Assists Lead, Supervisor, or Manager with inventory, schedules, and safety.
• Conducts competency assessments.
• May be responsible for developing and evaluating new methods of testing, depending on their experience and position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Involvement with community outreach education to include but not limited to, critical care topics, as well as paramedic advanced life support level transfers.

Provides professional and competent care at the specialty care transport level for safe patient transports in a ground or air asset.
Works with another specialty care transport provider in assessing, interpreting collected data, and formulating a priority-based plan of care utilizing knowledge and Life Flight protocols.
Continually re-evaluates the care provided, the patient's response, and makes necessary changes.
Documents assessment data, times, medications, equipment utilized, personnel involved, and treatment provided to accurately reflect the transport.
Collaborates with the clinical leadership team to perform a gap analysis utilizing, quality indicators, case reviews, surveys, and evaluations to determine educational and training needs.
Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of education and training programs based on professional, organizational, state consortiums, and Commission for the Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards.
Collaborates in the development of simulation scenarios for crew competency development and maintenance, as well as to provide experiential learning opportunities.
Obtain and maintain contact hours for education credits for all applicable licensure levels to include both internal and external education.
Assists in the development of a yearly education plan for competency maintenance and arranges or provides opportunities for crew to meet expectations.

The Sterile Processing Technician Certified, under general supervision, will inspect, clean, assemble, test, and processes patient care equipment, supplies, and instruments according to established policies and procedures and according to manufacturer's instructions for use. Prepares patients and procedural sites using aseptic techniques. Assists physicians by calibrating equipment, preparing supplies, devices and instruments for the procedure. Sets up, operates, and monitors complex digital medical and fluoroscopic equipment to ensure accurate image acquisition and expected patient outcomes. Utilizes multiple computer applications and medical devices for proper procedure documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). Responsible for monitoring, interpreting and calculating hemodynamic waveforms and EKGs. Laboratory Support Services Supervisor - St. Charles Hospital
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Support Services Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and oversight of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting test reports. The Lab Supervisor assists the leadership team with operational and administrative functions that facilitates excellent patient care, maintain laboratory functions, and ensures policies and procedures are feasible by making compliance is a key priority.
Essential Functions:
Hires and assist with onboarding top talent to create a work environment of diversity, professional growth, and continuous development
Evaluates the competency of all testing personnel and assuring that the staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently
Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly
Participates in committees, task forces, and improvement teams as defined
Ensures all changes within the laboratory are sufficiently validated before implementation
Other duties as assigned
Education:
Associates Degree in Medical Technology, healthcare, or a related Science (preferred)
Certifications:
Phlebotomy Certification (preferred, not required)
Experience:
5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting (required)
3 years phlebotomy experience (required if supervising Phlebotomy)
Previous experience in a leadership position in a customer service environment (preferred, not required)
Experience with EKG (preferred, not required)
Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrates leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, and decision making
Possesses extensive knowledge of clinical practice or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
