From then until 1852, when it was declared a city, Rosario slowly rebuilt itself.

1896

Rosario’s notable buildings include a Renaissance-style cathedral and the Municipal Palace (1896). The city has numerous sports facilities and is home to two professional football (soccer) teams.

1968

The National University of Rosario was established in 1968.

1976

In 1976 Bolivia was granted a large free-port zone along Rosario’s riverfront, thereby gaining access to the sea for that landlocked country.

1994

The Yacyretá Dam on the lower Paraná River began operation in 1994.
