Newseum company history timeline
The new museum, built at a cost of $450 million, opened its doors to the public on April 11, 2008.
The museum moved to a much expanded seven-level 250,000 sq. ft. location on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. in 2008.
The stainless steel reliquary with trace remains of Larry Burrows, Henri Huet, Kent Potter and Keisaburo Shimamoto has been at the heart of the Newseum and its memorial to fallen journalists since it was dedicated in 2008.
The Freedom Forum closed the Newseum on December 31, 2019.
