Assists parents by providing support, empathy and information about the foster care system, courts, services, etc;
Provide a sense of hope and inspiration through encouragement, outreach, and connecting parents with resources;
On a monthly basis, reports on dates and times of each contact and the nature of the contact, a summary of the family contacts with regard to family progress toward reunification goals, any issues of concerns related to the family, child placing agencies, courts, services, etc.;
Accompanies parents to court proceedings, Family Team Meetings, treatment recovery, other agency required meetings, other gatherings with parents, etc. for the purposes of support and advocacy of the parents' rights;
Along with the parent, interacts with child placing agency staff to see that clients are receiving appropriate services in a timely manner;
Collaborate with Parent Partner team including the Parent Partner Supervisor and/or Program Manager, child welfare case worker, planning committees, and others;
Meet with DHS caseworker periodically during the duration of services, as needed or requested by the family;
Assists in mediating conflicts between the assigned foster care worker and the client as needed;
Assists in providing child placing agency staff with a more thorough understanding of birth parents' experiences in the child welfare system by providing in-service trainings for staff and through regular contact with child placing agency staff;

Provides self-advocacy and empowerment skills to all referred parents on navigating through the system;

Job Qualifications:
Personal experience with the child welfare system resulting in successful reunification with children and dismissal of wardship.
Have been reunited with child(ren) for at least one year. Training may be started after six months of reunification.

Have a healthy and stable family situations with no current CPS substantiation or safety issues.

Launched in 2019 with tremendous community support, the Battle Creek program partners with Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and Grace Health, a beautiful Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that houses the residency's outpatient practice. This program successfully graduated its first class in 2022 and remains one of the only residencies in the state to be based entirely in an FQHC. The DFCM is seeking a Program Director for its 6-6-6 Family Medicine Residency in Battle Creek, MI. Launched in 2019 with tremendous community support, the Battle Creek program partners with Bronson Battle Creek Hospital and Grace Health, a beautiful Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that houses the residency's outpatient practice. This program successfully graduated its first class in 2022 and remains one of the only residencies in the state to be based entirely in an FQHC. Known as “Cereal City, USA”, Battle Creek is a vibrant, diverse, well-resourced area with numerous opportunities for collaboration, as the program develops rich learning experiences for trainees while demonstrating its commitment to improving community health.
This program joined the established WMed Family Medicine Residency in Kalamazoo. The two programs work collaboratively to enhance the education of all students and residents, leveraging each group's unique talents and offerings to strengthen the department. As a community supported residency with the backing of an academic university program we have the best of both worlds. Our residents are trained to competently practice the full scope of family medicine. The program is open to supporting leading edge skills and innovation in its faculty.
Responsibilities
Preparation of a written statement outlining the educational goals of the program with respect to knowledge, skills and other attributes of residents at each level of training and for each major rotation or other program assignment.
Selection of residents for appointment to the program in accordance with institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Selection, supervision and evaluation of the School of Medicine program faculty and other teaching faculty at the participating institutions.
Supervision of residents through explicit written descriptions of supervisory lines of responsibility for the care of patients, which are communicated to all members of the program staff. Residents are provided with prompt, reliable systems for communication and interaction with supervisory physicians.
Regular and formal evaluation of residents' knowledge, skills and overall performance based on the competency standards.
Provision of a written final evaluation for each resident who completes the program, including: review of performance throughout residency and professional ability to practice competently and independently.
Monitoring of resident stress, including mental or emotional conditions inhibiting performance and/or learning; and drug-/or alcohol-related dysfunction, and referals to counseling as appropriate. Trends resident stress and modifies environment as is appropriate.
Preparation of an accurate statistical and narrative description of the program as requested by the Residency Review Committee (RRC) or AOA. Notifies the accrediting organization (ACGME/AOA) regarding major programmatic changes and obtains approval.
Provides direction and assistance to residents in developing research projects and involvement in quality improvement activities.
Participation in scholarly activities.
Supervises clinical medical director in administration of clinic (as applicable).
Program and clinic budget development and implementation.
Availability to work on weekends and evenings to complete time sensitive projects.
Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
All other duties as assigned.

Minimum 3 years of experience at a teaching institution with administrative abilities demonstrated for MD; 3 years of experience for DO.
Prior supervisory experience.

The successful candidate will negotiate a joint appointment among the Department of Philosophy and one or more of the 12 units within CANR. The position start date is anticipated to be August 16, 2026.
We seek an internationally known scholar who has made outstanding contributions as a researcher, teacher, and thought leader in philosophical ethics as it relates to agriculture, food systems, sustainability, resilience and community. Scholars working in areas of environmental justice and climate change, agricultural (or animal and/or land) bioethics, food sovereignty, health disparities, food justice, and similar fields are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should also be positioned to be a leader in MSU's new Ethics Institute as that initiative unfolds.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing leadership to a campus-wide program in ethics as it relates to agriculture, food systems, sustainability, resilience, and community.
