The Potnis Lab in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at Auburn University is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide professional research assistance in the area of computational biology.
The successful candidate will join a team of a research assistant, research fellow, graduate students and undergraduate students, that contributes to multiple projects on plant-microbe interactions.
The successful candidate will work on a range of high-throughput sequencing data, such as genomics, transcriptomics, amplicon sequencing, and metagenomics for various ongoing projects and work collaboratively with the team members to advance the knowledge of plant-microbe interactions.
This is a two-year limited term position with the possibility of annual extensions depending on performance and funding.
Applicants must have a basic knowledge of microbial genetics and genomics, must have demonstrated ability to conduct high-throughput sequencing data analyses and must be able to interpret the data analyses. Applicants must be able to work both independently and with others within a research team and have excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant, under the direct supervision of the PI, will be responsible for rodent surgery, running animals for studies, helping with breeding colony and wet lab related activities such as immunofluorescence and microscopy.
Other duties include:
Assisting the PI in all aspects related research projects, including (but not limited to) maintaining a rodent colony and assisting with data collection.
Assist the PI in performing data analysis and preparation of figures for manuscripts.
Place purchase order for lab supplies and animals, and maintain laboratories in a good order.
Qualifications:
The Research Assistant I position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and some research experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to learn and perform immunolabeling, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, cryosectioning, and tissue preparation.
Ability to learn and perform animal experiments including injections, terminal surgery, survival surgery and organ processing etc.
Ability to analyze experimental data and formulate initial conclusions.

Job Details:Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified Vivarium and Research Lab Manager on the Columbus, GA campus.
Responsibilities:
As Vivarium and Research Lab Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and performing all activities within the animal vivarium on the Columbus campus to include all aspects of animal husbandry and care. This position will be responsible for all reporting requirements associated with IACUC, OLAW, and USDA oversight. This position will insure creation, maintenance of, and adherence to standard operating procedures and protocols. The candidate will have access to a veterinarian and other facility managers as needed. As Research Lab Manager the incumbent will work with the Chair or Vice-Chair of the department to perform duties related to managing and maintaining the research laboratory facilities on the Columbus campus of MUSM.
The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for maintaining as well as ensuring proper and safe use of departmental equipment. In consultation with the Department Chair or Vice-Chair, the laboratory manager will help to monitor proper adherence to departmental policies regarding conducting research, use of resources, handling and disposal of research materials. In addition, the laboratory
manager will monitor departmental usage of laboratory supplies, assist in ordering supplies and advising on current and future equipment needs.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited institution and five years of prior laboratory experience which must include work with animals. Candidates with a master's degree and two years of the same experience will also be considered.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must know how to use Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare various reports.
Must be able to learn and apply basic principles and practices of laboratory animal care and facility maintenance.
Must be able to keep written records of animal health, daily tasks, and facility conditions.
Must be able to learn and abide by the IACUC, OLAW, and USDA regulations as they apply to a laboratory animal vivarium.
Must be able to write and follow standard operating procedures and protocols for the vivarium and research laboratory.
Must be able to work with disinfectants, germicides, and cleaning agents commonly used in the animal vivarium.
Must be able to work on rotating weekends and holidays in the animal vivarium.

The Small Fruit Breeding Program at Auburn University is seeking a breeding data curator to support the research activities of aUSDA Specialty Crops Research Initiative Program to expand the Rosaceae, Citrus, Vaccinium and Pulse crop databases for big data storage and curation. This curator based at Auburn University will support collecting, curating, and integrating all types of genomics, genetics, and breeding big data into crop-specific databases, and assist with data collection and other breeding activities in the breeding program.
