The project aims to model societies as computational systems, examining how they process and store information to adapt to dynamic environments while leveraging increasing computational power to extract more energy from the environment in order to sustain and grow. By combining insights from theoretical computer science, social science, stochastic thermodynamics and complex systems research more broadly, this work seeks to uncover how social complexity scales with population size, energy systems, economic development, and technological advancements. The research also aims to illuminate both historical transitions and pressing contemporary challenges, such as the societal impacts of AI and other transformative technologies. The NPS Experienced Services Program is a unique partnership created to help solve the workforce issues facing government agencies. The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the NPS to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ? NPS ESP positions are meant to provide temporary, project-based support. This position will be funded for an estimate of ~65-70 hours, with additional funding possible in the future. ? A background security investigation may be required prior to the start date. Only those positions with 30+ hours per week are eligible for health insurance benefits; all positions will accrue sick leave. ? The experienced workers participating in the Program are referred to as ?Enrollees? and are not employees of the NPS or NEW Solutions. CWK seeks a consultant to design this bilingual digital cookbook (maximum 20 pages per language version), using recipes and materials provided by CWK. Job Description We are looking for a compassionate, experienced equestrian to join this facility as the Trainer/Caretaker of the owner's 3 forever horses. Aged in their early teens, the horses here have been trained up under Parelli principals, and do not have any competition goals or rigorous demands. This person will be responsible for exercising the horses on a daily basis in the arenas and on the trails, along with maintaining the highest standards of care alongside the rest of the 4 person team. With a typical work schedule running 7:30am-4:00pm just 4 days per week including weekends, there are generally at least 2 individuals working in the barn at all times. The ideal individual will have an easygoing personality but be accustomed to providing meticulous care for the horses at all times. This person must be well experienced in western riding principals, and have a gentle, horses-first mentality. There is a team of maintenance professionals who handle all facility upkeep, fence fixing, etc - and the cattle and donkeys are not the responsibility of this individual beyond basic oversight in the event of an emergency. This is truly a position centered around providing the best possible care for the 3 horses on-site for the duration of their lifetimes!
