Patrols assigned areas of hospital campus to maintain an orderly and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Enforces Hospital policies and procedures, and applicable local and state laws. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron (CHMCA).
Responsibilities:
1. Actively patrol assigned area of jurisdiction on foot or in a vehicle, checking buildings and surrounding areas for criminal activity or unsafe conditions.
2. Working independently with minimal supervision, respond to all assigned calls for police services, including, but not limited to; violent persons, hazardous situations, medical and mental health emergencies, and non-criminal assistance to the campus community.
3. Knowledge and adherence of department policies, procedures, as well as City, State, and Federal law.
4. Observe traffic hazards and conditions, and recommend corrective actions, investigate traffic accidents, enforce traffic laws and parking violations, assist motorists with disabled vehicles, and direct traffic.
5. Ability to effectively communicate and use police radio, computer, email, and telephone.
6.Interact with diverse populations with respect and dignity of cultural norms and practices.
7.Make arrests for violations of laws or ordinances, prepare and file necessary court documents, testify in court, transport prisoners.
8.Interview complainants, victims, witnesses, and suspects, analyze report information to enhance enforcement, investigative or safety efforts and prepare written reports in the record management system.
9.Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certifications, enhance skills, and uphold best practices in law enforcement.
10. Engage in community policing initiatives, fostering positive relationships with patients, visitors, and staff, and collaborate to resolve safety concerns and enhance community trust.
11. Perform any other assigned duties/tasks related to the needs of the department, meet and maintain any performance standards established for the position.

1. Experience containing and control crowds in order to preserve peace, providing a safe environment during large events.

Flex Officer Explanation
The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company's operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained, competent support by working shifts which become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. Scheduling Expectations
The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex:
You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week's schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice and asked to come in to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift.
You are expected to work any shift for which you are scheduled in advance which falls within the availability described on this sheet. If you know you will be unavailable on an upcoming date or time that would normally fall within your availability described on this sheet, you must communicate this with your supervisor, so they know not to schedule you.

The Campus Security Officer 2 serves the various constituencies of the university in a manner that is consistent with the educational philosophy and principles of the institution. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Conduct both mobile and walking patrols of the campus on an assigned shift. Conduct walking patrols and thorough security checks of all assigned university facilities in order to ensure their integrity and the safety of their contents. Respond promptly and professionally to requests for assistance and emergencies. Provide effective "First Responder" support in all medical emergencies. (25%)

Essential Functions:

The foremost responsibility of the Security Officer is to provide response, services and expertise in support of these functions.
The nature of the Security Officer's position requires that they, in normal daily functioning, act independently in regard to decision-making, given general direction and guidance from the JCUPD Mission, and the University Mission and Learning Goals. JCUPD Operations Manual and the shift Corporal and/or Sergeant provide more specific direction and guidance. The Security Officer will interact with internal constituents (students, faculty, staff, and contractors) and external constituents (parents, neighbors, merchants, governmental agencies, and others). These interactions may have significant implications for the operation of the Department, the Division, and the University.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Respond to and assist the police officer on duty with emergencies; which may include criminal, medical, fire, and other emergencies on campus or affecting the JCU community.
* Produce non-criminal reports which are clear, concise, complete, and correct.
* Conduct proactive campus patrol, employing a community policing approach. This includes engagement with members of campus constituencies by positive interactions and an active, high-visibility presence.
* Address suspicious activity in an unbiased and safe manner.
* Ensure the physical security of JCU property. Identify potential hazards, and act to remedy potential hazards.
* Provide support to campus activities in planning and execution of event security, parking and transportation.
* Enforce campus parking rules.
* Ensure the smooth operation of the gate attendant, shuttle and JCUEMS functions, providing guidance and support as needed.
* Provide services to the campus community, such as lost and found, room lockout, vehicle jumpstarts/lock-outs, fingerprinting, after hours physical plant troubleshooting, and other services as appropriate.
* Assist with CCTV and alarm monitoring as needed.
Required Qualifications
* Must not have been convicted in a court of law of crimes of violence, or any other offense which has as an element "the use or attempted use of any physical force or threatened use of a deadly weapon towards those persons that are generally covered by those statutes as related to family members."
* Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and a good driving record. A "good driving record" is defined as having no more than two (2) two-point moving violations or their equivalent within the preceding three (3) years, and no convictions for six-point moving violations and/or felony traffic violations, or their equivalent, within the previous five years.
* Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation, drug screen and psychological testing.
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and effectiveness in written and oral communication.
