Required Qualifications:
A minimum of one (1) year of security, or one year of local, state, or federal law enforcement experience; or

Specific vision abilities required by this job include correction to 20/30 vision, close vision, distance vision, night vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must also possess the ability to hear, for safety reasons inherent to the essential functions of the job. Must maintain fitness standards to ensure the ability to physically apprehend and detain suspects, provide emergency and protective services, and conduct other physically demanding assignments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and run, climb stairs and must routinely lift and/or move 50 pounds. During emergencies this position may be required to move incapacitated individuals away from dangerous circumstances.
Work Schedule
Non-exempt position; 40-hour week. Varied hours during a 24/7 work week. Campus Safety Officers assigned to Patrol Operations participate in a seniority-based shift bid and may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum qualifications for original appointment include:
i) Entry-Level Police applicants shall be 21 years old by the projected end date
of the Academy.
ii) Be a citizen of the United States of America or a person who is lawfully
admitted for permanent residence in accordance with the Immigration and
Nationality Act.
iii) Have completed a minimum education of high school completion, or GED
equivalency.
iv) Must have a valid driver's license and if not a Colorado driver's license, be

Automatic grounds for disqualification from the hiring process include:

v) Conviction of or deferred judgment for any driving offense listed below within the last three (3) years from the projected start date of the Academy:
1. Homicide or assault with a vehicle;
2. Leaving the scene of a crash (hit and run);
3. Eluding a Police Officer;
4. Any vehicle related felony;
5. Drag Racing/Exhibition of Speed;
6. Reckless driving resulting in serious bodily injury/death;
7. Driving while intoxicated (DUI, DWAI, DUID)
vi) Any applicant who tests positive for marijuana during the pre-employment drug test will
not be hired and will be ineligible to be employed within the City of Aurora for one year.

Minimum qualifications for original appointment include:
· Minimum (3) Three years of sworn peace officer experience in good standing within the four (4) year period immediately preceding the application.
· Applicants shall be 21 years old by the projected end date of the Academy.
· Be a citizen of the United States of America or a person who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence in accordance with the Immigration and Nationality Act.
· Have completed a minimum education of high school completion, or GED equivalency.

Uniforms
· A Glock model 45 will be furnished by the Department at no cost.
· Officers receive $1500 body armor vest allowance once every four years. This includes purchasing soft body armor vest to include the purchase of external plates and external and internal carrier under the uniform shirt.
· After successful completion of the first year, officers shall receive an annual boot allowance up to $300 per year for the purchase of Department approved boots or to re-sole current boots.

Deferred Compensation:
· Officers can contribute a minimum of 1% of their pre-tax salary on a bi-weekly basis into a 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan, managed by Nationwide retirement solutions.
· Additionally, officers will also have the option to contribute funds (post-tax, and up to a certain dollar amount) into a Roth plan, also managed by Nationwide retirement solutions.
Training:
· Annual in-service training. Officers are also eligible for job-related sponsored training.

Provides a safe and secure school environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
