Primary Purpose of the Organization: Continuous recruitment. Multiple positions available The Temporary Property Security (Residence Halls) unit operates within the Fayetteville State University Department of Police and Public Safety. This unit is responsible for providing security support to the residence halls. This position will be responsible for patrolling the designated residence hall , lobby area, hallways, exterior entrances/exits, and other areas within or immediately around the residence hall. This position will also be responsible for monitoring access in each residence hall by checking IDs and Hall Entry Cards for each student that enters the building along with guest registration during the assigned work hours.
Work is completed primarily on the weekend, 16-64 hours per month (subject to change based on business needs)
Description of Work
Secure, guard, and protect property and grounds. Patrol the interior and exterior of residence hall via foot. Guard property against fire, damage, theft, or other hazards; monitor assigned areas for possible violations of policies, regulations, and rules of conduct; recognize and report unusual, suspicious, or hazardous situations. All Residence Hall Security Officers are directed to check the residence halls completely. The Residence Hall Security Officer should check the office and surrounding parameters each hour. Residence Hall SecurityGuards are not allowed to be watching television or patrolling from cars. During residence hall checks, the guards should be mindful of and document all discrepancies such as unlocked suite doors, unusual activities, strangers or non-students, quiet hour violations, emergency conditions, vehicles thefts in parking areas, university property damage, visitation violations, disturbances, alcohol violations, drug violations, and/or other violations of university policy/student handbook. The Residence Hall SecurityGuards are to document and report their findings immediately to the dispatcher by way of radio. The dispatcher will then notify the appropriate personnel who will respond to the condition. After 12 o'clock (twelve) midnight, all residence halls are locked from public access.
Operate and maintain security enforcement equipment; and maintain related records and security reports. At the beginning of each shift, the Residence Hall SecurityGuards will be briefed and receive training from police personnel and the Office of Residence Life. All Residence Hall Security Officers may be required to sign in and out at the Dispatch Office and their designated residence hall(s) or use the normal time tracking procedure established. Check student identification cards (Ids) when necessary. Attend weekly residence hall staff meetings and participate in designated staff training activities as required by the Office of Residence Life and the Public Safety Department.

We're Looking for You:
The LLPS implements protection projects to advance the Conservancy's priorities with focus on the Resilient and Connected Network of lands and waterways primarily within southeastern North Carolina. They collaborate with Nature Conservancy team members and partners to develop relationships with property owners (individuals, organizations, and public entities) and secure acquisition of legal interests in land and water (by the Conservancy and others). This work includes collaboration and integration with Conservancy staff implementing Natural Climate Solutions in support of restoration and other climate mitigation projects and with Freshwater staff around shared conservation opportunities for wetlands and floodplains involving land protection. They research land ownership information for tracts identified as potential acquisition projects and conduct negotiations with landowners to complete conservation transactions. They respond to protection inquiries, screen potential protection projects, and prepare internal project packages as appropriate. The position will also provide technical support to external partners in land protection efforts around shared priorities. They assist with the sale or transfer of non-strategic land holdings across southeastern North Carolina as needed. The LLPS works with team members and partners to identify and secure funds for transactions, including state and federal grants, mitigation funds, and other sources such as leveraging impact capital, exploring carbon offset funding, etc.

The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company's operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained, competent support by working shifts which become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This enables Sunstates to provide continual, uninterrupted service to our customers, while also protecting the health and work balance of our personnel.
Scheduling Expectations
The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex:
You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week's schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice and asked to come in to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift.
You are expected to work any shift for which you are scheduled in advance which falls within the availability described on this sheet.
