Campus Safety Officers provide safety and security services to the campus community and our guests. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Patrol Bethel University property in various ways (foot, bicycle, or in an authorized vehicle) to maintain a visible physical presence
Conduct regular checks and inspections to ensure building safety and security including doors, windows and gates
Monitor and assist with traffic flow as needed; issuing traffic and parking citations when appropriate.
Report damage, malfunctions, faulty equipment or utilities, or any unusual, questionable, dangerous, or suspicious conditions, persons, or activities anywhere on campus, indoors or outdoors using proper reporting methods
Investigating and reporting criminal activity/complaints and traffic accidents
Maintain and report all activities on a daily shift log
Respond to requests for routine departmental services (lockouts, jump starts, safe-walk etc.); assist all persons to comply with Bethel University regulations and rules of conduct while on university property; apprehends or evicts violators from premises
Activate the Emergency Notification System (ENS) when needed.
Respond to medical situations and emergencies; reports all injuries and medical emergencies; provide basic first aid as needed; calls EMS as needed.
Qualifications
A high school education or GED. Additional education is a plus.
Relevant experience in safety and security.
A valid driver's license, good driving record, and be able to pass a drug screen, criminal and credit checks; and pre-employment physical
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to read, write and speak fluently in English
Must be able to see clearly at 20 inches or less and at 20 feet or more. Must have color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, occasional running or jogging may be necessary. Carrying, using hands to grasp, handle, or feel, reaching, walking, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pulling, pushing may also take place. Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and between 100 to 200 pounds with assistance
Working Conditions
Will work in indoor and outdoor environments during all seasons in cold, heat, and humidity.

The Security Officer will provide mobile and foot patrol of the property; traffic direction and control; physical security inspections of plant buildings and offices, detect and investigate violations in access control policies for employee, non-employee personnel, equipment, and vehicles entering and exiting the plant; detect and investigate policy violations, abnormal or unusual conditions concerning material being brought onto or removed from the property; investigation of vehicle accidents, property thefts, loss related incidents and other abnormal conditions; completion of all accident and security related reports and logs and any other reasonable related security tasks. Conduct mobile patrols of the facility perimeter, checking all fences, gates and doors ensuring all are secured as required
Ensure all parking violations are reported.
Ensure no unauthorized vehicles/pedestrians gain access to client's property.
Ensure all emergency procedures are followed and documented.
Assist, as directed, in the event of an emergency situation.
Conduct foot patrols of the facility doors inspecting for signs of forced and unauthorized entry.
Perform vehicle checks and execute them appropriately when necessary.
Officers should be visually monitoring traffic, unauthorized personnel, and anything out of the ordinary.
Professionalism is expected to be maintained while investigating, interacting, and/or confronting any associates, guests, and personnel at all times.

What You'll Do:

Receive all emergency and non-emergency incoming calls to the dispatch center while soliciting descriptive information to determine the nature and urgency of the request with location and scope of incident
Greet incoming patients and visitors to the medical center and verify reason for visit.
Validate proper identification of incoming patients, visitors, and staff.
Provide accurate directions to patients and visitors to insure they reach their destination within the medical center.
Conduct foot/vehicle patrols in assigned areas, double tap required tour access points and report identified safety and security related risk/issues.
Verify areas are properly locked and secured when performing patrols
Provide immediate response to unplanned life safety or security related emergencies and drills/exercises.
Respond to service calls in a timely manner.
Provide security escort services when requested.
Assist coordinators by provided information needed to complete accurate and detailed reports for security related incidents.
Perform other duties assigned.

**Must possess valid Driver's License with clean driving record**
The Unarmed Security Officer is accountable to ensure the safety and security of the client's associates, facilities, and equipment within his/her area of responsibility.
Qualifications:
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess High School diploma or equivalent
Security experience a plus
Must have a valid Driver's License with a minimum of three years driving experience with no suspensions to be able to meet the criteria to be insured
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers/Guards
Possess effective written and oral communication skills to accurately maintain completed logs and reports
Ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional manner
Possess intermediate computer skills
