Campus Safety Officers provide safety and security services to the campus community and our guests. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Patrol Bethel University property in various ways (foot, bicycle, or in an authorized vehicle) to maintain a visible physical presence
Conduct regular checks and inspections to ensure building safety and security including doors, windows and gates
Monitor and assist with traffic flow as needed; issuing traffic and parking citations when appropriate.
Report damage, malfunctions, faulty equipment or utilities, or any unusual, questionable, dangerous, or suspicious conditions, persons, or activities anywhere on campus, indoors or outdoors using proper reporting methods
Investigating and reporting criminal activity/complaints and traffic accidents
Maintain and report all activities on a daily shift log
Respond to requests for routine departmental services (lockouts, jump starts, safe-walk etc.); assist all persons to comply with Bethel University regulations and rules of conduct while on university property; apprehends or evicts violators from premises
Activate the Emergency Notification System (ENS) when needed.
Respond to medical situations and emergencies; reports all injuries and medical emergencies; provide basic first aid as needed; calls EMS as needed.
Qualifications
A high school education or GED. Additional education is a plus.
Relevant experience in safety and security.
A valid driver's license, good driving record, and be able to pass a drug screen, criminal and credit checks; and pre-employment physical
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to read, write and speak fluently in English
Must be able to see clearly at 20 inches or less and at 20 feet or more. Must have color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, occasional running or jogging may be necessary. Carrying, using hands to grasp, handle, or feel, reaching, walking, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pulling, pushing may also take place. Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and between 100 to 200 pounds with assistance
Working Conditions

Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Public Safety Captain, this individual will train in and learn (as appropriate), and perform duties related to airport safety and security, including but not limited to structural firefighting, aircraft and rescue (ARFF), emergency medical services, and law enforcement duties. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Reports to the Director. Responsible for providing a safe, secure and effective environment of care. Generally assigned to the Emergency Trauma Center (ETC), this environment is sustained by monitoring Hospital facilities, properties, and functions in order to protect property, patients, visitors, and employees from hazardous conditions, physical harm, trespassing, vandalism, sabotage, fire, and/or theft. Directs visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate location(s), and intervenes to prevent and control patient, visitor, and/or employee disturbances.

* Testifying during hearings and other legal proceedings, presenting information and accounts on incidents which have occurred on the Hospital's property, as required.
Ensures Hospital safety by:
* Reporting observed safety hazards and unsafe conditions of facilities.
* Initiating emergency response procedures and alarms, as appropriate, in the ETC and throughout the Hospital facility and grounds, utilizing safety equipment in order to correct or control the incident.

Occasionally hours will also be worked during the week and on holidays for programs and rentals. The park is open from the first week in December to the last week in February so frequent exposure to cold temperatures should be expected.

Job Description
What You'll Do:
Perform security duties related to access control of controlled area, entrance gate duties, protected and vital area access control, personnel search, vehicle search, escort duties, compensatory measures, monitor watch, operability testing of security equipment, and other related security duties, in accordance with applicable procedures.
Maintain operability of security and contingency equipment.
Maintain operability and working knowledge of weapons and other related equipment.
Investigate and report actual or suspected violations of plant security procedures and rules or abnormal conditions and irregularities. Respond to alarms and assess response team situations and take compensatory measures when applicable.
Maintain required logs and documentation.
Assist in the testing of security barriers and systems to ensure operability to meet plant and NRC requirements of security related equipment.
What We're Looking For:
Education:
High school diploma/GED.
Work Experience:
At least 1 year experience in military, law enforcement or security
OR 2 years of nuclear industry experience where work is performed within the Protected Area.
Other Requirements:
Must meet 21 years of age minimum requirement in accordance with State Security Guard Licensing for Armed Officers and 10CFR73, App B requirements.
Must meet all assigned requirements of the Cook Nuclear Plant's Physical Security Plan, Training and Qualification Plan, approved site procedures and/or State requirements.
Must pass medical and psychological exam, and pass a physical agility test.
Work safely in a nuclear, industrial and radiological environment.
Must meet the general criteria for security personnel as outlined in 10CFR, Part 73, Appendix B as specified in the Cook Nuclear Plant Security Plan and Training and Qualification Plan.
Report to work for various shifts, days of the week, weekends, holidays, various hours and be available on short notice.
Physical Demands:
Carry assigned duty gear and contingency gear as needed (up to 50 lbs. at a time).

Able to work in or respond to various stressful threatening adverse conditions.
