ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responds to emergency calls and calls for assistance; assists and/or backs fellow officers as requested/necessary on calls, executes warrant, serves subpoenas, and makes traffic stops; mediates disputes and advises suspects of rights. Responds to accident calls; gathers information at the accident scene; investigates and reconstructs serious injury or fatal accidents; interviews victims and witnesses; investigates hit and run accidents; notifies relatives of victims as necessary. Performs functions at •accidents, emergencies, fires, and disasters to include directing traffic, administering emergency first aid, and managing dangerous situations; interacts with emergency medical technician (EMT) teams. Establishes roadblocks; stops vehicles for traffic violations; issues traffic citations and warnings; administers field sobriety tests; identifies wanted persons/vehicles; impounds vehicles; assists stranded motorists; ensures roadways are clear of obstacles and hazards. Identifies illegal drugs and hazardous materials. Enters/retrieves data to/from computer system including stolen property, arrest and wanted persons information, investigation data, and criminal/driving records checks; reviews crime statistics. Assists with interdepartmental duties and county activities, which may include working within school zones, directing traffic, assisting in animal control, providing security at county social events and athletic activities, special escorts, crowd/riot control, or other special assignments. Documents case information; assists in the prosecution of offenders; appears in court to present evidence and testimony. Responds to questions, complaints, and requests for information by telephone or in person from merchants, community/civic organizations, the public, employees, superiors, and other individuals; attends community meetings and assists with community activities, programs, and crime prevention. Contacts command/supervisory personnel for emergency response and critical incident communications; exchanges information with dispatchers, attorneys, court personnel, medical examiner, medical professionals, and other departments and agencies. Maintains current field and code manuals, policies and procedures, employee handbooks, various maps, and related material for reference and/or review. Attends shift meetings, seminars, and specialized/update training sessions as required to maintain knowledge of departmental and county operations, to promote improved job performance, and to maintain knowledge of changing policies, procedures, codes, and laws. Completes and prepares a variety of forms, logs, requests, records, reports, correspondence, and various other documents associated with daily responsibilities of this position; maintains administrative records and files. Cooperates with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and their officers or representatives. Such other functions and duties as directed by the Chief of Police.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains cleanliness of vehicle; requests service and/or repairs as needed; maintains weapons and equipment in functional and presentable condition. Answers the telephone; provides information, advice and guidance; takes and relays messages and/or direct calls to appropriate personnel; returns calls as necessary. Substitutes for co-workers in temporary absence of same; performs other administrative tasks as assigned. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license. Must have current Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification as a law enforcement officer. Must obtain and maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Must be qualified to operate a firearm. May be required to attain and maintain additional certifications specific to assigned unit. Must comply with all of the requirements of Clayton County Police Department Procedure G3 "Reserve Program" applicable to Police Reserve Security Officers.

Responsibilities

9. Search the inside of the vehicles for weapons, explosives and other deadly or dangerous items just prior to loading catering carts.
10. Escort all catering carts from the time the monitoring/inspection is completed until the carts are loaded onto the transport vehicle.
11. After concluding the search and loading, close and seal all carts with tamper evident security seals.
12. The air carrier or representative meeting the carts at the aircraft will inspect the seal for signs of tampering prior to breaking it.
13. In the event a seal shows signs of tampering or are discovered broken, the suspect cart must be searched for weapons, explosives, and other dangerous devices prior to loading on aircraft.
14. All seals must be stored in a locked container and protected from unauthorized access.
15. Notify or ensure immediate Law Enforcement Officer and/or Airline Ground Security Coordinator notification when necessary.
16. Ensure safe handling of dangerous or deadly weapons/objects discovered until arrival of the Law Enforcement Officer.
17. Contact Law Enforcement Officer if items of contraband (illegal items) are discovered during the screening process. Maintain control of items until arrival of the L.E.O.
18. Report all Government tests, real weapons, injuries and other major incidents to supervisor immediately.
19. Keep supervisor informed of needs and problems in assigned areas, maintain cleanliness of immediate work area and report maintenance needs.
20. Project a positive image and respond to inquiries from clients, staff and public in a courteous manner.

Protect against unauthorized entry to the university campus and buildings, and identify trespassers on university property.
Support and work closely with local law enforcement agencies to build solid professional relationships and address issues effectively and efficiently.
Be proficient in using all access control systems and CCTVs deployed on campus.
Serve as a first responder during campus emergencies, including hurricane responses.
Other duties as assigned.
Primary schedule is Wednesday 12 pm- 6 am & Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 6 am-6 pm. Flexibility to work weekends, overnights, and other shifts as required.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Candidate should maintain high energy with a strong commitment to student success, enthusiasm, and desire to work with students.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong writing and editing skills, as well as an understanding of the importance of composing descriptive incident reports.
Strong intrapersonal communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
Ability to be creative and forward-thinking to anticipate the needs of those with whom this role interacts.
Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a commitment to high-quality and positive results.
Strong leadership ability and demonstrated crisis management skills under stressful situations.
An understanding of how to conduct unbiased investigations and interviews with participants in a variety of potential situations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be permitted to drive in the state of Florida.
Must be willing and able to be certified in CPR/AED.
