Seeking an enthusiastic, professional, knowledgeable, goal-oriented, and motivating individual for the role of Colorguard Instructor. They will oversee all aspects of the Marching Bulldogs Colorguard and recruitment. Director will work closely with the Director of Bands in order to design uniforms, flags, choreography and work for all half-time performances.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the program coordinator and designer for the colorguard. Maintain a culture that promotes a positive environment, success and growth of the program. Helps to recruit for the colorguard. Must be able to attend band camp, season rehearsals Wednesday and Friday from 4pm-6pm as well as 5 home football games. Director will choreograph all work for half-time performances, parade tunes and stand tunes. This position does require physical activity in order to demonstrate and choreograph routines. Video recording of choreography for practice logs required.
Required experience: Applicant must have experience with designing, choreography, and teaching colorguard routines that effectively complement and enhance the visual component of the marching band show. DCI, WGI or collegiate experience required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Protective Services
Routinely patrol campus and other properties under jurisdiction on foot, motor vehicles or other authorized bikes and transportation. Watch for unauthorized persons, suspicious or criminal activities, disturbances and violations through regular patrols and monitoring of camera systems
Secure (lock and unlock) campus facilities per directives. Conduct security and safety checks and patrols of all buildings and campus grounds.
Observe and report safety hazards to appropriate personnel and departments.
Observe weather conditions on and around campus property and report dangerous or unusual weather-related activity to management for timely response and communication.
Respond to and manage all emergencies and disasters on campus.
Enforcement Services

Enforce traffic and parking regulations within Converse's jurisdiction. Assist campus and local law enforcement with all traffic control needs such as necessary including directing traffic, posting signage, setting and removal of traffic cones and barricades and more.
Conduct arrests and issue trespasses according to departmental policies and SLED regulations.
Investigate complaints and violations of university policy and South Carolina law within Converse's jurisdiction and patrol area. This may include viewing camera footage, talking with witnesses, capturing and handling of evident and writing of incident reports.
Complete and submit appropriate and timely reports for all complaints and activities including but not limited to accidents, injuries and criminal activities. Testify in court as necessary.
Community Services
Render first aid and life support techniques when necessary.
Proactively implement the department's community policy program.
Interact positively with campus community members on a daily basis and assist members in identifying potential safety and/or criminal problems.
Provide excellent customer service to all university students, faculty, staff and visitors.
Provide direction, escorts and other assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
High school diploma or equivalent
Current driver's license if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
Minimum of two (2) years of verifiable employment history relating customer service or the protective service industry (preferably security, healthcare, military, law enforcement, or corrections)

Direct traffic and assist motorists. Provide personal escorts upon request, escort money transfers as needed, and support security, traffic control, and crowd control at special events. Participate in crime prevention initiatives and represent the department at community meetings.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Participate in orientation, in-service sessions, field training, and off-campus training programs to maintain professional skills and performance.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director, which may include dispatcher relief, administrative support, community liaison work, or similar assignments.
Pursue ongoing professional development to remain current on law enforcement and safety practices.

Physical Fitness
Officers must maintain the ability to perform job-related physical tasks, including but not limited to:
Patrolling campus on foot and by vehicle Responding quickly to emergencies Intervening in physical altercations or retraining individuals when necessary Performing sustained walking, running, standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and pushing. Lifting and moving up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally more with assistance. Navigating physical obstacles such as stairs, fences, and low crawls in a manner consistent with requirements outlined in the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Physical Abilities Test (PAT). Dragging a 150-pound weight for a required distance during emergency or safety response situations.
Emergency Response Skills
Officers must hold current certification and be able to perform first aid, CPR, AED use, and Stop the Bleed procedures.
Medical Fitness and Reporting Obligations
Officers must disclose any medical limitations that may impact their ability to perform essential duties at the time of hire. Officers who develop a medical condition during employment must notify their supervisor promptly if the condition limits or restricts required job duties.
Overall Readiness
This position requires consistent physical readiness and the ability to respond quickly and safely in potentially stressful, dynamic, or hazardous situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid South Carolina driver's license.
Completion of S.C. Criminal Justice Academy basic law enforcement training.
Completion of first aid, CPR, AED, and field training requirements.
South Carolina voter registration card (required by SLED).
Successful physical examination as required by the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy. Physical requirements include frequent walking, running, standing, and lifting (must be able to walk carrying 50 pounds). Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.
Successful completion of NCIC Code Z background investigation (law enforcement hire).
