Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
· Performs competent break-fix & preventative maintenance. Under general supervision, the Seal Repair Technician is responsible for all processes related to disassembly and assembly of rotating equipment. The Seal Repair Technician follows instruction from a Repair job packet and router to perform DCI (Dismantle Clean and Inspect) and gives a written description of the wear and condition of critical components seal.
This position completes all inspection forms taking pictures of all critical components and uses inspection equipment for proper documentation of the assembly. With assistance identifies, inspects and evaluates material returned, determines repair operations, performs simple shop operations, verify specifications, initiate work and purchase orders.
Receives John Crane parts and materials returned by customers and branch offices. Evaluates from a condition of material, checks current drawing revisions and general product knowledge whether material is repairable or non-repairable.
· Identifies and inspects material returned.
· Ensures all components are properly cleaned and free from foreign material per departmental procedures
· Performs the assembly of the seal once the repair has been released to the shop and all components have been replaced or reconditioned and marked ready for assembly.
· Under close supervision, repairs returned seals and seal parts.
· May perform parts structuring, check cost structure, and determine price of repair, ensures assembly is structured correctly, and price repair.
· Determines necessary repair operations, ensures BOM (bill of materials) / drawings / repair parts match.
· Performs simple operations on drill press (single spindle), tool post grinder, bead blast polisher and lapping machine.
· Verifies part specifications with measuring instruments such as micrometer, vernier caliper, dial indicator and optical flats.
· May initiates purchase orders for new jobs if vendors are involved.
· Consults with Engineering or Sales departments as necessary.
· Maintains necessary records and small inventory of seal parts used for repair orders.
· Works from factory work orders, prints, rework orders and verbal instructions.
· Assists newer repair personnel as necessary.
· Sets up and troubleshoots lapping machines for repair maintenance.
· May perform direct contact with customers on service and/or phone, checks computer system for credit and address information, price repairs.

FLEET TECHNICIAN V CLASSIFICATION TITLE: FLEET TECHNICIAN V PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION Performs entry level to complex skilled work in the repair and maintenance of County vehicles, equipment and heavy equipment. Work involves performing preventive maintenance; diagnosing vehicle and equipment problems; removing and repairing or replacing defective parts, systems, and components; and repairing body damage. Employees use a variety of diagnostic, mechanic and hand tools. Position works under general guidance and reports to the Fleet Assistant Director-Operations.
The specific technician level is determined based upon the employee's qualifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs maintenance, repair, and service work on a variety of County vehicles and equipment, such as sedans, light, medium, and heavy trucks, dump trucks, Emergency Medical Services vehicles, fire fighting equipment, in accordance with industry and factory standards. Assists in monitoring inventory levels of parts, equipment, tools or supplies, and initiates requests for new or replacement materials. Orders and picks up parts and supplies as needed. Transports vehicles to outside vendors for repairs.
Performs welding on automotive and vehicle body parts and fabricates metal parts needed for maintenance or repair work.
Operates or uses various machinery, equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in the appropriate and safe manner, in order to complete work assignments.
Responds to calls from County personnel for roadside assistance. Performs repairs remotely in the field as required.
Prepares vehicle maintenance reports, records, and logs of work performed, parts used and replaced and hours. Enters data into the department's system to track work orders, notes, and work completed.
Research repair methods; reviews service history; reads, reviews, and utilizes repair manuals, industry software, internet resources, schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical materials.
Depending on classification, assists with training, instructing, and oversight of co-workers, as well as diagnostic and repair methods.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Cleans and maintains shop and work area. Cleans and washes vehicles as needed.
Assists with the operation/repair/monitoring of the County fuel stations.
Available as needed to support personnel and vehicle/equipment repair needs during emergency conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
For all classifications, the technician is responsible for providing all necessary hand tools and basic power tools necessary to perform the work. The Residential Locksmith/Tech is responsible for effective technical communication, resolution, and continuous improvements with Delaney door hardware products. This team member will also develop and support technical and instruction writing for internal and external publications. This can include installation instructions, mounting templates, technical bulletins, product training material, cross-reference guides, and product literature. The ideal candidate will have the ability to quickly grasp residential and commercial door hardware products within the company's product portfolio. This position reports directly to the Sales Management and works closely with Customer Service and the warehouse.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for same-day responsiveness via phone or email on technical questions from Customers and Customer Service/ISR's/OSR's.
· Responsible for handling field issues that arise in a timely fashion - providing resolution.
· Knowledgeable about creating product assemblies and proficient in building them when necessary.
· Responsible for developing and maintaining technical documentation used by customers and internal staff - installation instructions, templates and bulletins.
· Creates and develops training course materials, to include PowerPoint presentations, handouts, quizzes/tests, Competitive Comparisons, FAQ's, Cylinder Sheets and other training aids/tools
· Conducts product training programs and demonstrations for OSR/ISR sales teams, explaining features, installation and applications.
· Develops product knowledge (PK) classes for customer delivery by OSR's, Delaney Sales or directly in person.
· Develops troubleshooting videos as necessary for customers.
· Support assembly of mounted product samples for customers and trade shows.
· Assist supplier transitions by responding to supplier specification inquiries and reviewing product samples against existing Delaney specifications.
· Drive a culture of 2 Second Lean and continuous improvement, accountability and results through strategic deployment and effective performance management.
· Attend and work industry trade shows to educate show attendees about the Delaney product portfolio and provide technical expertise.
· Other duties as assigned.
