The Automotive Technician plays a pivotal role within our automotive service team. As a vital member, you learn and develop foundational skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. Pay Range: $16.15 - $24.23

**Responsibilities**
+ Change oil and perform other scheduled maintenance services.
+ Perform inspections of steering, suspension, and brake systems.
+ Install batteries and check electrical systems.
+ Perform tire maintenance.
+ Install parts.
+ Road test vehicles.
+ Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certifications in at least one of A1 - A8 within first two years of employment (Tests and registrations fees are paid for by company pass or fail. Technicians receive bonus for each test passed)
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Ability to learn basic mechanical tasks.
+ Must have a valid automobile driver's license at all times and be able to drive customer and company vehicles.
+ Basic understanding of general automotive maintenance & tire repair services including:
+ Oil changes
+ Basic inspections
+ Repairing tires
+ Reading, writing, and math skills.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 2 years of automotive repair experience, completion of Vocational-Technical School program in a related field or demonstrated skills via third party certificates/assessment.

Job Summary:
This position reports to the Service Supervisor from whom work assignments are received. Parts are requisitioned and reports are submitted through that office. Since some of the service calls are because of incumbent's contacts or solicitations, the Field Service Mechanic is required to keep his supervisor informed of his activities and any change in his schedule. Servicemen are usually assigned to a territory but are called upon to assist in other areas as required. Some may not be attached, but “float” on special assignments or to fill in as needed.
This “Service after Sales” contact helps to enhance the company image and reputation in the field and directly affects repeat sales. The incumbent develops a personal relationship with the customer and establishes a source for service and parts, showing a positive and concerned interest in customer needs evidenced as follows: (a) upon delivery of a machine - assembling, if necessary, performing inspections, training operator in machine operation, its functions and capabilities, setting forth warranty and maintenance requirements; (b) making routine calls as time permits; (c) performing prompt and satisfactory repair or replacement service; (d) correct reporting of time, parts, travel, etc., to assure correct billing.
The above accountabilities require some vocational training and formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair. The position calls for considerable experience as a general mechanic and additional experience in welding, hydraulics, and diesel engine repair. Some of this training and experience may be acquired at TMW, to gain familiarity with the product, its parts, and assemblies, its literature, and the company policies affecting warranty. The incumbent is called upon to interpret blueprints, wiring and hydraulic diagrams, parts catalogs, lubrication charts and repair manuals. He must show versatility and ingenuity to get the machinery operating in the least possible time. Customer satisfaction is the goal.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Consults with Service Supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedule, giving priority to customer need, considering location of machine and availability of parts.
Diagnoses malfunctions: repairs and/or replaces worn and defective parts; installs new assemblies, adjusts devices and controls - to correct malfunctions and to keep machines in operating condition.
Provides tools and parts and arranges for facilities to perform repair work (usually on customer premises).
Inspects, operates, and tests machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components.
Reports to Service Supervisor such information as name of customer, description of machine, nature of malfunction, the time involved in working, driving, and waiting, mileage, etc., so that proper accounts can be charged, and proper billing can be made.
Strives to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meeting of departmental personnel and reading of technical literature.
Promotes and enhances the company image by maintaining a neat, personal appearance and by keeping the service truck in a clean, polished, and orderly condition.
Experienced or advanced servicemen are expected to serve as troubleshooters on recurring or unusual problems, conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve.
Experienced or advanced servicemen will be expected to train new servicemen or to supervise a team of servicemen in the assembling or servicing of large units or in a joint effort on large repair jobs.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
This job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and the capability of lifting 50 pounds.
Incumbent must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record, since employee will be driving company owned vehicle and will be covered under corporate insurance which has strict coverage requirements.
Incumbents will be required on occasion to stay overnight at out-of-town locations.
Basic computer skills required.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
Education and Experience:
Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
Three years on the job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. Schooling in these fields could substitute for some of the job experience.
While it is not a requirement that the FSM pass the AWSD14 Welding Test, the incumbent is required to pass the tacker test. The FSM is encouraged to practice and improve welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test to be considered for future promotions.

Job purpose:
The Apprentice Equipment Technician I is a team-player willing and able to learn from peers and supervisors. This position begins actively training in the installation and maintenance of substations, metering, and other equipment involved in the daily operation of DREMC's electrical grid. Apprentice will remain in each of the classifications for a period of twelve (12) months between each step of the Apprentice Equipment Tech I, II, III, and IV to become an Equipment Technician.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR APPRENTICE EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN I
1. Consistently demonstrates an intellectual curiosity that is guided by sound judgment in the best interests of DREMC.
2. Studies, learns, and consistently applies DREMC policies, procedures, by-laws, and rules and regulations.
3. Studies maintenance testing procedures, techniques, safety precautions, and instructions for conducting shop and field test and repairs as he/she assists the Equipment Technicians in these duties.
4. Learns the operation of various equipment (e.g. transformer oil sampling equipment, recloser, regulator, capacitor, meter and substation testing equipment).
5. Gains knowledge and experience as an apprentice to be able to perform the following:
a. Maintain all job sites safely and in a professional manner with supervision.
b. Becomes familiar with the Technical Services fleet of vehicles which includes becoming familiar with stocking the service vehicles, the test equipment on each vehicle and the operation of each vehicle.
c. Studies maintenance testing procedures, techniques, safety precautions, and instructions for conducting shop and field test and repairs as he/she assists the Equipment Technicians in these duties.
d. Begins to learn switching assignments on the distribution system
e. Investigates and learns to repair and install equipment, equipment controls and metering equipment
f. Begin to learn electric meter functions, programs, and classes of meters
g. Completes material records, time sheets, and other paperwork related to work orders, transformers, circuit breakers, reclosers, meters, vehicles and other equipment or facilities as required.
h. Begins to learn how to handle and care for all equipment assigned and reports maintenance needs when detected, especially where a safety hazard may exist or could develop.
i. Gains an elementary knowledge of substation one-line drawings.
6. Attends and receives a certificate of completion in TVPPA Substation Maintenance Units 1 and 2.
7. Deals professionally and courteously with all members or others and explains work being performed as required.
8. Must reside within a twenty (20) statute mile radius of the DREMC Shelbyville office.
9. Emergency response coverage as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
post-secondary degree/diploma from an accredited college/university or technical school is required. In lieu of degree, five (5) years' experience of Industrial Maintenance or related fields may be considered.

Certification/License, etc.:
Must have a valid Tennessee Driver's License and have or be able to obtain a class A CDL endorsement within their (6) six months probationary period. Must be eligible and remain insured as a driver by the Cooperative's group liability policy for the automotive fleet.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must maintain a continued education that supports the Cooperative's goals. A broad understanding of the utility industry is desired and must acquire skills needed to advance to Equipment Technician Apprentice II within (12) twelve months from hire date.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, and crouch for extended periods while performing equipment maintenance and inspections. The ability to walk over uneven, steep and difficult terrain on a regular basis. Regularly lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally heavier items with assistance. Requires good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Must be able to work in various body positions, including under equipment or on ladders, and operate foot and hand controls. Visual and auditory acuity are required to inspect equipment and detect mechanical issues or safety hazards. May be required to operate utility vehicles or equipment as part of training or under supervision.
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in garages, workshops, or outdoor utility yard environments. Exposed to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity when working outdoors. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noises, dust, grease, fumes, and potentially hazardous materials; appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required. May work around energized equipment or in proximity to utility vehicles; safety protocols must be followed at all times. Some tasks may require working in confined spaces or at heights using ladders or lifts. Occasional travel may be required to support field operations, attend training, or assist at remote sites.

This position is responsible for the development of the customer relations between Taylor Construction Equipment and the end users, by providing prompt and efficient service and aftermarket support. This position reports directly to the Service Supervisor for Taylor Construction Equipment. Parts are requisitioned and reports are submitted through that office. The Field Service Mechanic is required to keep his/her supervisor informed of activities and any change in schedule. Service persons are usually assigned to a territory but are called upon to assist in other areas as required.
The Field Service Mechanic is responsible to develop a personal relationship with the customer, showing a positive and concerned interest in the customer's business as by the following: (a) upon delivery of a machine - assembling, if necessary, performing inspections, training operator in machine operation, its functions and capabilities, setting forth warranty and maintenance requirements; (b) making routine calls as time permits; (c) performing prompt and satisfactory repair or replacement service; (d) correct reporting of time, parts, travel, etc., to assure correct billing.
The above responsibilities require some vocational training and formal schooling in hydraulics, electronics and diesel engine repair. Experience is the construction equipment industry is a MUST. The position calls for considerable experience as a general mechanic and additional experience in welding, hydraulics, electronics, and diesel engine repair. Training and experience will be provided by Taylor, in order to gain familiarity with the product, its parts, and assemblies, its literature, and the company policies affecting warranty. The field service mechanic is required to interpret blueprints, wiring and hydraulic diagrams, parts catalogs, lubrication charts and repair manuals. The incumbent must show versatility and ingenuity to get the machinery operating in the least possible time. Customer satisfaction is the ultimate goal.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Consults with Service Supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedule, giving priority to customer need, considering location of machine and availability of parts.
Diagnoses malfunctions: repairs and/or replaces worn and defective parts; installs new assemblies, adjusts devices and controls - to correct malfunctions and to keep machines in operating condition.
Provides tools and parts and arranges for facilities to perform repair work (usually on customer premises).
Inspects, operates, and tests machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components.
Reports to Service Supervisor such information as name of customer, description of machine, nature of malfunction, the time involved in working, driving, and waiting, mileage, etc., so that proper accounts can be charged, and proper billing can be made.
Strives to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meeting of departmental personnel and reading of technical literature.
Promotes and enhances the company image by maintaining a neat, personal appearance and by keeping the service truck in a clean, polished, and orderly condition.
Experienced or advanced servicemen are expected to serve as troubleshooters on recurring or unusual problems, conferring with Engineering, Manufacturing, and other service personnel to resolve.
Experienced or advanced servicemen will be expected to train new servicemen or to supervise a team of servicemen in the assembling or servicing of large units or in a joint effort on large repair jobs.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and the capability of lifting up to 50 pounds.
Incumbents must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record, since the employee will be driving company owned vehicle and will be covered under corporate insurance.
Must be DOT certifiable.
Incumbents will be required on occasion to stay overnight at out-of-town locations.
Basic computer skills required.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
Education and Experience:
Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
Three years on the job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. Schooling in these fields could substitute for some of the job experience.
While it is not a requirement that the FSM pass the AWSD14 Welding Test, the incumbent is required to pass the tacker test. The FSM is encouraged to practice and improve welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test to be considered for future promotions.
