    A Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) Shift Lead is a professional level employee in the Muskegon County Juvenile Detention Center. The JDC Shift Lead performs a variety of duties related to direct care of lodged youth and acts as the shift lead of the facility. Key performance measures include providing for the daily care, support, and supervision of Juvenile Detention Officers (JDO) and youth of the Juvenile Detention Center. 1. Have completed sixty (60) semester hours of college level coursework from an accredited college or university (or equivalent quarter hours) in Social Sciences or related Human Services field; AND Have a minimum of one (1) year of full-time paid work experience in a juvenile facility, court operated facility, or child caring institution as a direct care worker. OR Have a High School Diploma AND Have a minimum of four (4) years of full-time paid work experience in a juvenile facility, court-operated facility, or child caring institution as a direct care worker. 2. Possess a valid Michigan driver's license.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Employees in this class should be in good physical condition to withstand confrontation with clients, and may be required to move or lift children weighing in excess of one hundred (100) pounds. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Employees in the class generally work at the Juvenile Detention Center.
