1949 Authorization is received to establish the Showa Women’s College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which is inaugurated under the new post-war education system.
1951 Showa Kindergarten opens.
1969 A postgraduate course for a Master's degree in pharmaceutical sciences is established.
1980 Hitomi Memorial Hall is completed.
1985 Work begins to create the new Machida Campus.
1988 International Campus Boston is founded.
1989 Doctoral programs in literature and Life Sciences start.
In 1990, SPU moved from the Setagaya Campus to the Machida Campus.
1991 A postgraduate course for a doctorate degree in pharmacy is established.
1997 Shoyaku-Net, a school information network, is launched.
2000 The school celebrates its 70th anniversary.
2005 An academic agreement is signed with the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy.
2006 British School in Tokyo starts on the Setagaya campus.
2008 Completion of practical training facilities for SPU students at the St Marianna University School of Medicine.
