Interpreters participating in the LSA network have the ability to accept or decline assignments as best fit their schedule.
Independently contracted interpreters that join the LSA network are provided opportunities to accept challenging assignments and gain competitive industry experience. Interpreters are expected to remain committed to assignments accepted, and to arrive onsite by the time requested by the client.

Overview

Participate in quality management processes, e.g. Corrective Action Reports (CAR), Root Cause Analyses (RCA), solution implementation.
Take all measures necessary to protect and keep private any sensitive information shared with you to carry out interpretation projects (e.g. PHI, PII, SBU).
If onboarded, you will adhere to the policies and processes defined in the Master Service Agreement (MSA), Addendums, and Prisma Vendor Guide.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements - ALL are required
At least 18 years of age.
You must be a U.S. citizen.
You must reside in the United States or a U.S. territory.
You must agree to undergo a federal government background check at Public Trust level, which includes a screening process and fingerprinting.
ILR level 3 (or higher) proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension in English and a non-English language as measured by the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR), the US federal government's language-related oversight agency.
Test score documentation must be from an authorized ILR testing entity such as: LTI, NCLA, DLS, ACTFL, etc.
3+ years of professional interpretation experience.
At minimum, a high school diploma.
Native or near-native level proficiency in English and the other language
Abide by the ATA code of ethics.
Computer or laptop with a wired headset plus a mobile phone as a back-up device, and secure (non-public) high-speed internet connection.
Quiet, private workspace.

Overview

Essential Job Duties
Completes orientations/observations of new interpreters, perform onsite assessments, and on-the-spot corrections within reason as permissible on behalf of SOSi.
Establishes communication with interpreters as a resource for filtering interpreter feedback, observations, issues, and concerns to SOSi.
Provides local support of SOSi established court protocols and procedures, assist SOSi staff with local events.
Develops and maintains a professional relationship with key court personnel.
Provides consecutive and simultaneous interpretation between Spanish and English and vice versa.
Provides over-the-phone and video remote interpreting for limited English proficiency (LEP) individuals as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Legal ability to work in U.S.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience interpreting, informal experience is accepted.
Highly proficient in both English and target language vocabularies typically used in formal, consultative, and casual modes of communication in justice system contexts, including colloquial slang, idiosyncratic slang, and regionalisms.
Knowledgeable of specialized vocabulary (terminology) in both English and Spanish to legal and criminal justice system terminology and immigration procedures.
Ability to speak English and target language fluently, including high to low levels of language register, regional colloquialisms, and slang expressions, and do so with clear and intelligible pronunciation.
Ability to perform simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation in a manner that is factually and conceptually accurate without changes, omissions, or additions.
Ability to preserve the tone and emotional level of the speaker, as well as manage the delivery, speed, and length of the statement (projection, pace and pausing) of the speaker.
Ability to maintain appropriate speed and projection while rendering interpretation, and request and incorporate clarification of speaker's statements only when justified.
