ROLE OVERVIEW: As Superintendent you will be accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, running day-to-day field operations, and directing and coordinating designated project activities. This includes subcontractor/vendor coordination activities and quality control. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead the on-site team from construction start through project close. • Oversee and make decisions related to the performance of work including scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels. • Oversee work among assigned trades to promote coordinated project operations. Resolve local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment schedule, and all other appropriate matters. • Verify field conditions by conducting daily jobsite walkthroughs in addition to daily safe work plans and toolbox talks. • Monitor the detailed master schedule, create a two-week look ahead, and track critical dates of all activities affecting the project completion. • Proactively identify and help remedy design deficiencies, schedule concerns, and other project-specific issues. • Communicate and interpret contract scope to the entire site management team. • Conduct preconstruction meetings with all subcontractors prior to beginning each phase of work. • Create and maintain a project production schedule. • Build and nurture relationships with clients/owners, architects, developers, and subcontractors. • Other duties and responsibilities as required. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related fields preferred and/or equivalent training. • Supervisory experience as a construction Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent and a clear understanding of the business side of construction. • Comprehensive understanding of all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control. Basic competency with construction technologies. • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, contract documents, scopes of work, and project schedule. • Ability to travel to jobsites as needed. • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. OSHA 30 Hour certification and First Aid/CPR certification are a plus. Lift up to 50 lbs. of construction materials. Constantly uses fingers and hands when dialing/answering the telephone and operating a computer or other office machinery, such as a copy machine, scanner, and computer printer. Use hands and fingers to operate power and hand tools. Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information through verbal communications in person or detect objects in and around job site over the telephone. Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents; operate a computer or other office machinery; or. Walk short distances on slippery, even, and/or uneven surfaces. Stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, turn, or crawl. Climb and balance on stairs, metal/wooden beams, concrete form work, ladders, or other structures/elevated areas. WORKING CONDITIONS: Part of work is performed in an office atmosphere located inside a building with no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. Daily job site visits involve performing work in outdoor weather conditions with exposure to extreme cold, heat, and noise depending upon project site; and may also include the following: dust, fumes, cleaning chemicals, and/or other harsh/hazardous solvents or disinfectants electrical components, power lines, or other electrical hazards rebar, blades, or other sharp objects/tools high elevations, trenches, or crawl spaces Travel locally during the work day between jobsites, although some out-of-area travel may be expected with seldom overnight travel. Communicate and comprehend instructions/directions in accordance with safety requirements, which necessitate no language barriers exist between employees and supervisors. Adhere to and perform functions according to company and OSHA safety guidelines. Wear personal protective equipment as required such as steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, and the like while conducting job site visits. Maintain regular, timely, and predictable attendance.
