The Andy Warhol Museum company history timeline

1994

On May 13–14, 1994, the museum attracted about 25,000 visitors to its opening weekend.

2002

1st April 2002 AWMMA was defined in the Deed of Foundation issued by the Prešov Self-governing Region as a trans-national, collector's, scientific-research, cultural and educational institution in the area of museum- and gallery-related activities.

2004

In 2004, the Warhol began the Sound Series as an ongoing lineup of concerts at venues around the city.

2008

Hirst was also central to “Pop Life,” not because of famous art objects like his shark-in-a-tank, but for the blockbuster auction he staged of his own works in 2008, an artistic “performance” most important for the more than $200 million it brought in.

2010

24th December 2010 One of the founders of the Museum, John Warhol, the elder brother of Andy Warhol, died.

2011

2011 The memorial plaque to John Warhol was unveiled during the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Museum.

2013

In 2013, the Andy Warhol Museum and EarthCam collaborated to create Figment, a 24/7 live stream of Warhol's grave that can be viewed worldwide.

2015

However, the museum announced in March 2015 that it had dropped its plans to open the New York annex.

2016

In the year 2016, the Andy Warhol Museum of Modern Art in Medzilaborce celebrated the 25th anniversary of its establishment.
