Flex Officer Explanation
The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company's operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained, competent support by working shifts which become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This enables Sunstates to provide continual, uninterrupted service to our customers, while also protecting the health and work balance of our personnel.
Scheduling Expectations
The scheduling parameters and expectations for a flex officer are different from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a flex:
You will be trained at various posts and /or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week's schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice and asked to come in to cover for someone who is unable to work their shift.
You are expected to work any shift for which you are scheduled in advance which falls within the availability described on this sheet. If you know you will be unavailable on an upcoming date or time that would normally fall within your availability described on this sheet, you must communicate this with your supervisor, so they know not to schedule you.
For short-notice call-ins, you are expected to work at least 80% of the shifts for which you are called. If you refuse more than 20% of shifts for which you are called in, this could negatively impact your employment status with the company.

Summary:

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Officer (Patrol)
Patrol and observe all areas of the campus.
Assist in maintaining a safe environment for students, employees, and visitors.
Secure and protect the buildings, equipment, and other assets of the College.
Provide prompt, qualified assistance in emergency and nonemergency situations.
Perform parking enforcement.
Perform investigations of incidents and prepare detailed, accurate incident reports.

Answer incoming calls received through the campus switchboard and forward to the appropriate office or provide information as needed.

Maintain necessary shift logs.
Utilize department's computer records management system for reports and data entry.

Qualifications:

Required Licenses and Conditions
* Must be at least 18 years old, the minimum age required to possess a FAA security badge
* Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States
* Must demonstrate an ability to interact cordially, communicate with the public and demonstrate a bias for service
* Must be willing and able to work scheduled twelve-hour shifts, if needed
* Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a demonstrated good record
* Must have access to reliable transportation
* Must be able to operate a radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors and surveillance equipment.
* Must submit to the following, post-offer of employment in accordance with the IAA Policy
* Hogan Assessment - Personality/Behavioral Assessment
* Physical Exams, including vision and hearing, in accordance with employment detail requirements and site training and qualification plan
* Subject to a drug screen and FBI background check to the extent permitted by law
* Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military
* Must have the ability to satisfactorily complete a 10-year employment background
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Walk, sit, stand stoop, bend, move arms, climb stairs and ladders
* Lift oneself into high standing vehicles for inspection
* Operate communications equipment to include radios and telephones
* See, hear, talk, write and communicate ordinances and security violations
* Work in all types of environmental weather conditions both inside and outside
* Monitor CCTV screens as assigned

What You'll Be Doing
Patrol neighborhoods, downtown areas, and city facilities on foot and in a vehicle
Identify parking violations and issue citations using modern enforcement technology
Respond to parking complaints and resolve issues professionally
Photograph and document violations accurately
Identify abandoned or illegally stored vehicles and coordinate towing when authorized
Support special events, festivals, and road closures
Work alongside Code Enforcement, City Engineering, and sworn officers
Educate the public on parking rules and promote voluntary compliance

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
