Verify the VIN number being entered matches the VIN number on the shipper's Bill of Lading. Watch and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and doors left unsecured. Account for and identify all keys, codes or other safety and security information Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers Maintain good operating condition of all equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers. Role and Team As a Security Guard, you will be an integral part of the Security Team executing processes at our facility to ensure our associates, customers, and assets are protected. At our gates, you will be the face of ADESA to our customers, vendors and associates. You will play an active role in ensuring our Inventory Control procedures are followed. You will be adept at utilizing ADESA technology. You will support vehicle location research when necessary. This position is hourly and reports to the Operations or designated manager. This position may work various shifts and weekends. Responsibilities Secure all gates and buildings and patrol the premises. Sound alarms and notify authorities in case of emergency. Verify only authorized individuals enter the property. Provide facility directions to customers, vendors and transporters. Check gate passes to ensure vehicles are authorized to exit property. Check departing vehicles to guard against theft of company property. Greet customers at the gate and provide prompt and courteous service. Resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner. When difficult situations arise, de-escalate situations to ensure we win with partners and collaborate on the forefront. Using a handheld device, input vehicle information including the VIN number, miles, owner identification, vehicle options, repair orders and any other pertinent information. Verify the VIN number being entered matches the VIN number on the shipper's Bill of Lading. Watch and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes and doors left unsecured. Account for and identify all keys, codes or other safety and security information Maintain a current list of emergency and management telephone numbers Maintain good operating condition of all equipment and facilities, including handheld devices and printers. Notify management of all breakdowns and maintenance needs. Maintain a professional appearance and orderly work environment Practice and promote teamwork continuously. SCOPE Patrols 65 acres of land to include the perimeter of the campus, the interior of eight buildings, and the athletic complex to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. Collaborates with the Campus Safety Manager to monitor the activities taking place on grounds, communicating pertinent information such as security breaches and threats to the Campus Safety Manager and the Director of Campus Operations. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Inspect the school campus at least four times per shift and interact with school community members (students, employees, parents) on an ongoing basis to develop relationships, identify potential issues that need to be addressed, and ensure policies and procedures are being properly executed. Act as the first responder to school emergencies and crises and provide necessary assistance and support to all involved. Conduct regular safety patrols and pro-actively addressing concerns or questions within scope of work. Write incident reports for any of the following: thefts, vehicle accidents, personal injuries, suspicious persons, vandalism, property damage, assaults, threats, false alarms, altercations that should be documented, the calling of fire, EMS, or police for any reason. Ensure the locking of perimeter doors at the appropriate time and monitor the school's camera system via iPad or desktop. Ensure all persons on campus are identifiable with the presence of a visible student, staff, visitor, parent, or contractor badge. Monitor the activity of visiting groups for facilities rentals and contact the Associate Director of Campus Operations with concerns or issues. Utilize events manager to input security related information regarding special events. Utilize the work order system to record issues such as fire hazards, leaks, malfunctioning of any equipment or lighting that is causing a safety or security concern. Be the primary contact for parking during school events with the assistance of other Campus Operations staff. Secondary responsibilities: Contribute to a community environment by maintaining a visible and approachable presence and engaging with students, employees, and others on campus without bias.
