Teaching areas are flexible and are determined based upon department need but may include both upper and lower division interior design courses, both lecture and studio-based. Teaching responsibilities could include; design foundations and conceptual design, residential and commercial design, computer-aided design (AutoCAD, Adobe CS, Revit, SketchUp and Enscape), building systems and codes and making in design. The Biology Department at the Virginia Military Institute invites applications for a non-tenure track, adjunct position. Military experience is not required. This is a part-time position with an expectation of teaching primarily Core Curriculum introductory biology courses in-person. Our longer-term adjunct instructors may teach an upper-level course in their specialty. Class sizes are usually 16-24 cadets. Teaching load is up to two courses with laboratories per semester, with the possibility of additional classes in the summer. The current salary rate for one laboratory course is $9,832. The successful candidate will serve under a renewable contract. Full-time faculty at VMI wear uniforms and adhere to military customs, but adjunct instructors are not required to do so.

The CIB is an interdisciplinary research center that is a partnership between the Virginia Tech College of Engineering and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Research in the CIB spans a broad range of both computational and experimental biomechanics approaches to investigate injury mechanisms, understand human tolerance for injury, and engineer preventative safety strategies and devices. Teaching areas are flexible and are determined based upon department need but may include both upper and lower division interior design courses, both lecture and studio-based. Teaching responsibilities could include; design foundations and conceptual design, residential and commercial design, making with technology, portfolio design, design thinking and wicked problems and introductory lecture courses.
